Javier HernandezThe January transfer window is fast approaching and Arsenal have been linked with a number of players already, with the latest being Javier Hernandez.

Arsenal are without seven first-team players due to injuries picked up before and during the season, and Arsene Wenger has recently dropped hints that he may become active when the January transfer window opens.

Many of the Arsenal faithful have urged Wenger to recruit new faces even before they saw the likes of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla pick up long-term injuries, and it seems Wenger is ready to answer their calls.

With the return of Danny Welbeck uncertain and Theo Walcott just coming back from injury himself, Wenger has had to rely on Olivier Giroud in past weeks and the French striker’s credit, he has delivered as of late.

However, many believe that without reinforcements coming in this January Arsenal will be unable to sustain their title challenge, and perhaps Wenger is coming to this realisation and has set his sights on Hernandez – according to the Independent.

The Mexico international moved to Bayer Leverkusen from Manchester United for a reported fee of £7.3 million over the summer and has been in impressive form for the German club.

Hernandez has scored 18 goals in 21 total appearances for Bayer Leverkusen thus far. He still has three-years left on his current contract, but it is claimed Wenger will attempt to persuade Leverkusen to sell when the winter window opens.

Arsenal were previously linked with Hernandez when he was at United and a move for the Mexican poacher could well fire them to the title if acquired this January.
