abdelhak nouriArsenal are set to go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signature of Ajax wonderkid Abdelhak Nouri, reports the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old has starred for Ajax’s second team, who compete in Holland’s second tier, this season, and is viewed as one of the brightest young talents in Dutch football.

Gunners chief scout Steve Rowley has reportedly made a number of visits to Holland to see Nouri in action this season and Arsene Wenger and co. could launch a bid for his services when the January transfer window opens.

But Arsenal will have to fend off the likes of PSG, Marseille, Spurs, Southampton and Everton, all of who have watched Nouri extensively in recent months.

Ajax are reluctant to sell their attacking midfielder, who captains both Holland and Ajax’s Under 19 sides, and could become a regular in the Dutch side before the end of the season in an attempt to convince the youngster his future remains at the Amsterdam club.

Nouri is contract to Ajax until 2020 and is valued at around £70,000.
