Rico HenryArsenal, among other Premier League clubs, are on the trail of Walsall teenager Rico Henry, who has been likened to ‘a young Ashley Cole’.

Manchester City, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on the 18-year-old left-back, reports the Daily Mirror.

Henry, who recently signed a new deal at Walsall until 2018, was awarded the best young player in the Football League for September.

Although the teenager is primarily a left-back, he is also able to play further up the flank.

Henry has featured regularly for Walsall this season, making a total of 25 appearances (19 starts) and netting two goals in all competitions so far, with many of his eye-catching performances attracting the attention of the Premier League quartet.

And Saddlers boss Dean Smith believes academy product Henry has the potential to reach the top:

‘If I were to liken him to anyone it would be a young Ashley Cole and it’s up to him how far he can now go in the game.’

Arsene Wenger may consider a move for Henry when the January transfer window opens to add more depth to his left-back department, with Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal his only options. But this will depend on how the youngster progresses from now until the end of the year.
