Gunners eye up Benfica starlet

|

Goncalo GuedesArsenal are keeping tabs on Benfica teenager Goncalo Guedes.

The Gunners are tracking the progress of the highly-rated 18-year-old, with scouts reportedly present during Benfica’s Champions League tie against Galatasaray earlier in the week, as reported by The Daily Star, writes The Daily Mirror.

The versatile winger has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo and is also being targeted by Manchester United and City, as well as Barcelona.

But if Arsenal want to sign the Portugal Under-21 international then they will have to meet his £40 million buyout clause, with the teenager still having over five-years left on his current deal at Benfica.

Guedes has netted three goals and created four in 12 appearances in all competitions so far this season for the Portuguese outfit.

Although Guedes has huge potential, Arsene Wenger will no way part with a fee of £40 million for such a young player. Besides, there are other areas of the squad that the Frenchman needs to address this January before adding another winger.
