Daniele RuganiArsenal were unable to sign a centre-back over the summer, but the Daily Mirror, as reported by Italian website Calciomeracto, claim they are targeting Daniele Rugani as a potential January recruit.

The Gunners will make a £13 million bid for the 21-year-old Italian, who has yet to feature for Juventus.

The Italy Under-21 international spent last season on loan at Empoli and reportedly caught the eye of Arsene Wenger over the summer – but an offer was never tabled by the Gunners.

Arsenal were linked with a few centre-backs over the summer, but Wenger opted against bringing in a new defender as he feels it is an area well equipped – and I would have to agree.

We already have Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Calum Chambers, even Mathieu Debuchy who can all play in the heart of the back four. So brining in a new defender wouldn’t make sense, nor would it be a signing Arsenal fans want to see happen.

If Wenger is going to strengthen the side this January then it should be the attack and defensive midfield position.

Arsenal Wenger is a great coach no doubt about it, but, he should not continue to “spare the rod and spoil the
child” always. Spend this money and buy quality players and win titles again.
    Up Gunners for life!
