Jack WilshereRight, so Jack Wilshere will again undergo surgery and will be out of action until Christmas, it’s been reported.

The England midfielder has been hampered with injuries in recent years and has yet to feature for the Gunners this term after suffering a hairline fracture to his left leg during pre-season.

Arsene Wenger had hoped that Wilshere would return fit following the recent international break.

However, the 23-year-old has not recovered as expected and is set to face a further three months out.

This is the statement Arsenal released on the matter:

‘Due to a slow healing response from a fracture suffered in August, the club can confirm that Jack Wilshere is to undergo an operation to his left fibula.

‘The decision to intervene has been taken quickly after regular reviews by specialists, who feel that Jack’s scans show that the healing process is not progressing as well as expected.

‘Jack will have surgery in London in the forthcoming days. This will involve inserting a small plate in his left fibula. Jack is likely to be out for approximately three months.

‘Everyone at the club wishes Jack well with his rehabilitation.’

Wilshere only made 14 Premier League appearances last season after suffering an ankle problem and only returned to action in May.

Wilshere is highly-rated by many of the Arsenal faithful and see him as a future club captain, but he has become injury-prone of the past couple of seasons, and some may now be concerned about whether he can overcome his injury woes.

With this being said, should Arsenal now consider offloading the injury-prone Wilshere?
