Wojciech Szczesny is on the verge of joining Roma this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper lost his place in the starting line-up to David Ospina at the start of 2015 after being found smoking in the changing room following the defeat to Southampton on New Year’s Day.
And although Szczesny has stated that he is willing to remain at Arsenal and fight for his place – following the arrival of Petr Cech – the Pole knows his chances of fending off the experienced Czech keeper are slim.
Italian newspaper Il Tempo are now claiming the Szczesny, who made just 17 Premier League starts last season, has reached an agreement with Roma.
The Poland international has sparked this rumour further by adding several of Roma’s players on Instagram.
It is believed Arsenal are willing to let Szczesny leave this summer, but only on loan. However, Roma are pushing for a permanent deal, which the Gunners are more than likely to turn down.
