Alessio RomagnoliArsenal are clear to sign Alessio Romagnoli with Roma happy to sell to the Gunners rather than AC Milan, reports the Metro.

The highly-rated 20-year-old is expected to leave Rudi Garcia’s side this summer after being loaned out last term to Sampdoria, and AC Milan have apparently held talks over a potential move.

But with Arsenal registering their in interest in the Italian centre-back last week, it’s now believed Roma would rather do business with Arsene Wenger than Serie A rivals AC Milan.

Roma are willing to sell Romagnoli this summer, but only if the reported £20 million asking-price is met.

And although Milan are likely to pay even more for the defender’s services, Roma don’t want to sell him to a rival club, leaving the door open for Arsenal to make a move.

Romagnoli, who still has three-years left on his current deal at the Olimpico Stadium, has spent three seasons at Roma and has made 14 appearances for the club thus far.

Arsenal are believed to be in the market for a centre-back this summer, but would the potential addition of Romagnoli be the right one for the Gunners to make for £20 million.
