We’ve lost out on yet another chance to capture the Premier League title – 11 years now we haven’t be crowned champions of England. We’ve come close in recent seasons but no cigar unfortunately.
We look set to miss out by about 10 points (if Chelsea and Arsenal win their three and our four remaining games respectively). It’s simply not good enough, although the potential to finish as runners-up and an FA Cup won’t make for bad reading. However, if you finish second you are expected to mount a serious title challenge the following season – and Arsene Wenger believes this to be possible. The Frenchman insists his side has what it takes to topple our rivals and bring home the Premier League title, despite the gulf in class between us and Jose Mourinho’s side:
‘I am always optimistic, because in this job if you are pessimistic, you don’t go far.
‘I feel like we have made progress and Chelsea was the winner this year because they’ve been the most consistent team of all.
‘Let’s finish well, prepare well for next season and give them a good fight.’
Haven’t we heard this all before?
The key word Wenger used in his comments were ‘consistent’ and we really do struggle with this, this is why we haven’t won the title in so many years.
I honestly believe we have one of the best squads in the Premier League but we aren’t consistent enough to seriously maintain a title challenge, and until this is rectified we never will.
If you say you are going for the title then you have to do it otherwise you look stupid. So for Wenger’s sake I hope this doesn’t backfire on him.
What Arsenal have done over he last ten years is far more important than merely winning the league title. Sure, they could have spent a fortune and won the title , but that would have been risking going the way of Leeds or Blackburn. What they have achieved is to keep Arsenal at the top table in world football by building a world class stadium (and paying for it) and that is a much more amazing achievement than spending someone elses money to buy the title and then sinking into oblivion . I always smile at articles like this because they remind me so much of mourinho,s soundbites/mind games. Form is temporary class is permanent and people like mourinho have no class and what they say is true, if you aint got it you can,t get it.
last season also wenger told we have a nice squad and we have made progress .next season we will catch mancester city.yes the catch city this term.but not chelsea.arsenal have a great squad which means lots of players but lacks the character or spine to win titles.the majir criticism last season was there is no quality defensive midfoelder for them.he havnt bought anyone last summer.other teams strikers are not afraid of arsenal.because look at the defence ther is a grandma (mertsacker).but laurent has been fantastic and been saving his ass all the time.im a big admirer of wenger but if he doesnt win champions league or bpl next season .he should be sacked because he knws hw to win it .just saw this season when arsenal lost to southampton and clearly bought back coq and somehow found out a great tackler and look what arsenal are stable.he should get a great goalkeeper i say cech.,and a high quality defensive midfielder because coq cant deliver creative passes and physically not good.isay schniederlin and geoffrey kondogbia.and a centre back hummels or varane or aymen abeendour.also a world class striker cavani ,benzema will definitely be available this summer.if santi leaves isay arsenal should get gotze or isco.if they get this players arsenal wont be just chammpions in evry competition they compete ,they will invincibles in evrry competition.
dats d problem….buy,buy,buy….d same fans will complain wen dis guys don’t hit forms…..of all d options u provided, only schneiderlin is oak, Cavan is shit, watch dere games. d current arsenal team has truly made progress, check d record against d top 4 oR 6 teams, it was a great improvement. even dis team has been very consistent in 2015, we all know DAT…..The main stuff will be to carry dis form into the beginning of next season and win as much games as possible wen our rivals will be struggling for form……plus we surely need d henry-esque forward or some1 better Dan Giroud, I will pick Jackson Martinez, cos currently we have our Pires in Ozil and our bergkamp in Alexis Sanchez!!!
