Should Wenger risk him against Spurs?

Alexis SanchezArsenal take on fierce rivals tomorrow afternoon at White Hart Lane which promises to be a thrilling encounter – especially with both teams on form.

But Arsenal fans were told earlier this week that they will be without Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean forward was ruled out with a suspected hamstring injury.

Sanchez has not played for the Gunners since January 25th, missing the 3-2 FA Cup win over Brighton and the 5-0 demolition of Aston Villa last Sunday.

However, Arsene Wenger hinted earlier today that the 26-year-old could ‘defy medics’ and feature in the North London derby.

The Frenchman said:

‘He wants to play, of course, he’s very keen, he feels he can defy the medical people because he is so keen to play that he thinks he can get over strains.

‘I don’t know yet, I need medical advice on that, and I need as well to see what he can do in training.’

It’s undoubtedly the biggest game of the season for both clubs, but should Wenger give in to Sanchez’s eagerness and play him tomorrow afternoon.

Undoubtedly, Sanchez would enhance our chances of coming out of the game with all three points. But even without the Chile international, I believe we have a strong enough to cope with Spurs. Of course Sanchez wants to play, but Wenger must consider that if he does then he could risk losing the services of the forward for future games this season.

I would probably place him on the bench and see what happens.

Alexis shouldn’t feature in the North London derby, its a risk not worth taking, more so that there are great options and Arsenal isn’t a one man team either. That will be a sign of desperation.

Let us stop taking the capability of the infom and the ambitious Spuds for granted. And be serious with this last game of the season between the ambitious Spuds and the confident Gunners. What an epic game it will be tomorrow at the Lane! I am foreseeing. The Spuds want to leapfrog the Gunners in the table tomorrow. And they will do it if Gunners got carried away by being overconfident. To win this derby, the Gunners must adhere strictly to the new order of play. They should not be overconfident of their defense line. They should defend with total commitment and concentration. They should know that the Spuds were abled to breakdown the Premeir League’s strongest defense line of the team of Chelsea, when they visited the Lane some weeks back. Sanchez-Giroud-Walcott, are undoubtedly our strongest trio strikers. If the odd of escalating injury is up to 85% in favour of Sanchez, I advice the boss starts him. He is desperate to increase on his goal tally which has remain rigid at 18 goals after he has missed a couple of games.
