It was reported in the Daily Star yesterday that Dortmund are eyeing up a shock move for Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom.
It is believed the 19-year-old is highly-rated by Arsene Wenger and although the striker is hopeful of remaining at Arsenal, he is yet to extend his contract at the Emirates which expires at the end of the season
Reports suggest Everton, Manchester City and even Spurs are also keen on Akpom, but Dortmund appear to be ahead of the queue and are close to agreeing personal terms with the England Under-20 international.
Jurgen Klopp is supposedly a big fan of Akpom and has been heavily involved in the talks to try and lure him to Dortmund, with the German boss believing the youngster can make an impact in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund are preparing a move this month for Akpom, but should the Gunners not want to do business now, then the struggling Bundesliga outfit could still get their hands on him for a small compensation fee in the summer.
Akpom, who recently stated he’s ‘hungry’ for games, wants to stay at Arsenal.
But with several forwards ahead of him in the pecking order at the Emirates, his chances of featuring regularly are slim to none, which could force him to look elsewhere.
Even if he extends his contract, can he really become a regular?
Personally, I think Akpom should seriously consider the offer of Dortmund or any other offers that may appear. He may want to stay at Arsenal, but it may be better for him to go somewhere where he will feature more regularly.
