Loic perrinLoic Perrin has revealed that Arsenal have spoken to him over a possible move this January, but no deal has yet to be struck with Saint-Etienne.

Arsene Wenger is said to be in the market this month for a new centre-back to reinforce his leaky defence ahead of the second half of the season, and Perrin has been touted as a possible recruit.

Speaking to Le Progres, the 29-year-old said:

‘I was contacted personally. Arsenal are interested.

‘But for now, there is still no contact with Saint-Etienne.’

Perrin is valued around the £5-6 million mark and his versatility is what appeals to Wenger.

Naturally a centre-back, Perrin can also play on the right of a back four and as a holding midfielder – another area which many believe Wenger must shore up this month.

As well as his versatility, Perrin also possesses good positional awareness and strength, and would also be eligible to play in the Champions league if signed by Arsenal.

The French defender has been with Saint-Etienne since the age of 12 where he spent six years honing his ability before breaking through the first-team in 2003. He has made well over 200 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, and has featured 16 times so far this season.
