Is Wenger for real?

Krystian BielikArsenal recently had a £1.6 million bid rejected by Legia Warsaw for teenager Krystian Bielik, after the initial offer of £1.5 million bid was turned down.

The 17-year-old Pole has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates after training with the club over the Christmas period, and Arsene Wenger has seen enough to convince himself that he wants to sign Bielik, who is a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a centre-back.

Warsaw are believed to want a package, including add-ons, of at least £2.3 million for Bielik, and with Roma also reportedly interested in the youngster, why doesn’t or hasn’t Wenger just handed over an extra £700,000 to the Polish club to land the hot prospect? Why is he stalling on whether to hand over a total of £2.3 million? Some of which the fee will be going towards add-ons anyway? It astounds me that Wenger is trying to haggle over such a minimal fee. It’s actually quite embarrassing, and yes although it is good to barter and get the best price possible, but if this kid is as good as Wenger thinks he is then the Frenchman should have no hesitation in handing over the cash.

Although Bielik would be a nothing signing to us – as he will not be an immediate solution to our problems – landing young talent is still part of the game and shows we are building for hopefully a fruitful future.

With that being said, don’t delay Wenger, just cough up the asking price and sign your target before another club does.

Why don’t you just find £699,000 and Wenger will hand it over with the odd change. You think this is a kids board game don’t you. There is nothing easier than someone elses money to spend.

Menace what are you talking about? Are you insinuating that Arsenal can’t find £700k!!! it’s fans like you that give that keep Wenger in a job – mindless. Wenger needs to stop haggling and just cough up the asking price Warsaw want – he would do the same if the shoe was on the other foot!

It seems that you know more than most the way you are berating Wenger or do you believe what the press are writing.

Menace, you obviously don’t know what you’re going on about. The author of this peice is correct. Last time I looked, £700,000 in football terms is a relatively small amount especially to a club like Arsenal. If Wenger seriously values the player he shouldn’t be qibling over £700,000 plus it’s embarrassing & an insult to Warsaw – it comes across that Wenger isnt taking the offer seriously. This is what gooners find incredibly frustrating with him as other clubs/managers would just pay the fair price for a future star!

manace and chris, warsaw bought the player for 9,500 pounds in 2014 and arsenal second bid is for 2million pounds, is that not a fair bargain?

The kid’s head has been turned already and he is already talking in glowing terms about a future at Arsenal. When the player has made up his mind that puts us in a strong position so that’s why we are not bothered about taking our time, he’s not going anywhere else and Legia Warsaw know that also.

I support the stances of Steve and Chris . By the way whose money is it being bargained for . The young man was an active member of his club so would only require some bit of game time to blend with the playstyle of the team . We always frustrate these players and they come back to haunt us . The case of Winston Reid of West Ham is another in waiting with very small amounts to talk about .
These guys are still in their very early twenties or even less . They are the pillars of tommorrows Arsenal .

In footballing terms 700,000 pounds is small. Arsenal are a club that obviously hate spending money, and there in lies the problem with the advancement of this team. Wenger is still trying to operate the club as he did 15 years ago, while the world has moved on, and the world of football now deals with mega rich owners and big money. Until Arsenal accept this fact they will not rise to the top. In fact Arsenal’s minority owner is the second richest man in England (ahead of chelsea’s owner). Maybe the team should be given to him to run.
