Where would Arsenal be without this man?

Alexis SanchezYesterday saw Alexis Sanchez save Arsenal’s blushes by netting a brace in their 3-0 home win over Burnley.

The Gunners now sit in their usual position of fourth place, nine points off table topping Chelsea.

Needless to say, our lads haven’t yet hit top gear. But Arsene Wenger has, to his defence, had to chop and change his starting line-up near enough every week due to injuries and suspensions picked up so far.

However, Arsenal should have enough to deal with what has been thrown at them and racking up 17 points from our 10 opening games doesn’t make for good reading.

Four wins, five draws and two losses, that’s our current Premier League record so far, but where would we be without Sanchez?

The Chilean is currently our top scorer in the Premier League with seven goals to his name and the former Barca man has somewhat carried the side thus far. If we take away his goals (the ones that made a difference to the result) then we would now be five points worse off, 14 points behind Chelsea and be sitting in 12th place rather than occupying a top four spot.

The 25-year-old has been the shining light in Arsenal’s season so far but there will come a point where he will be out-of-form and those around him must be able to step up to the plate when the things aren’t going our way.

Splashing out £33 million or so for Sanchez looks more of a coup than a risk, and if he continues to impress then he will no doubt be labelled a fan favourite in years to come.

Let’s hope he continues his scintillating form and his team-mates draw some inspiration from the Chile international because we can’t just rely on him to bail us out all the time.
