Long-term Arsenal target Andre Ayew is set to leave Marseille at the end of the season and interested clubs could land him for as little as £1.5 million in January.
The Ghanaian winger has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all mentioned.
It is believed the Premier League trio have sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old in the past, and with just over seven months left to run on his current deal at the Stade Velodrome and no sign of extending his stay, reports suggest that he could leave in January for a mere £1.5 million, despite his £11 million valuation.
Napoli are also believed to be interested in Ayew, but the player has spoken of his desire to play in England:
‘The Premier League is a league every player dreams about.
‘The English league is the one most followed in Ghana. It’s true that I have a real preference for England.
‘I like everything about it; the atmosphere, the game, the fans. There is a lot of intensity. It is a beautiful championship.’
Currently in his fifth season at Marseille, Ayew has featured 152 times in all competitions for the French outfit, scored 42 goals and created 14 – not a bad return from a wide man.
If Wenger was truly tracking Ayew then he must act fast to acquire him.
£1.5 million for a tenacious Ghanaian international who can score and create goals can only be described as a bargain.
