Cheick TioteArsenal are interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote, according to the Daily Express.

The 28-year-old is believed to have attracted the attention of Arsene Wenger, amid reports suggesting that the player has become unsettled with life at Newcastle in recent months and that his agent is open to listening to offers this summer.

A number of clubs from Russia, Germany and Spain are interested in the industrial defensive midfielder, and it is thought that Arsene Wenger, who is a long-term admirer of Tiote, is consider a move for the Ivory Coast international.

Arsenal have been linked with several midfielders already this season with the supposed pursuit of Sami Khedira making the headlines in recent weeks. But Wenger has denied any links to the German and now appears to be eyeing up a move for Tiote instead, who would come at a cheaper price and already has Premier League experience under his belt.

Alan Pardew would hate to lose the services of Tiote, who is valued at around £8 million, but would not stand in his way if he wants to leave Newcastle this summer, despite the player having three-years left to run on his existing deal at St James’ Park.

Although Tiote, in my opinion, is not a better player than Khedira, a move for the Ivorian makes more sense, as the former is already adapted to the English, comes at a price three times less than the latter and will not demand a huge wage package.

He would be a decent signing for Arsenal.

This must be a piss take….biggest load of rubbish ive read in a long time. Trying to convince yourself and fans he would be a better option than Khedira on the basis he is cheaper just seems ludicrous. Tiote gives more fouls away than any other midfielder in the prem and hasnt scored a goal since he screamer against us.
Go back to the drawing board or that bottle of gin youve obviously been drinking.

What a bafoon . Tiote is on 55k a week at Newcastle so would look to double that at another supposedly big club, given the fact he has publicly said he is happy and loves Newcastle this article is pure fabrication with no qoutes/sources/ or anything of any note from anyone that matters,Newcastle have already raped you for 12 million for a lad that cant defend and gets sent off /booked every game so can you not be happy with that?

    • Lee Morris says:

Its ok 99.9% of Arsenal fans dont want him….Were happy with Debuchy btw…plays before Sagna for France and has looked better so far. Think we trust Wenger when it comes to Frenchman.

      • thetoonrme says:

99 percent were against Debuchy…….. jannamat at 5 million 5 years younger and can attack as well as defend will be better than both Sagna and Debuchy…. watch him in the dutch national side.

Do you honestly think Ashley would sell Tiote for less than Debuchy when he is on a long contract?..London press for you eh

Lets for a minute think about the great attributes Calum Chambers – He plays right back, Center back and Central Midfield, young, atlethic and shows composure beyond his years. Now think of the leftsided version. Mondogbia of Monaco. We all saw how he man handled arsenal’s midfield during the emirates cup. He plays CB, CM and LB and at only 21 would make a perfect partner for Chambers in the long run.
