Why a ‘Giroud plus £35M’ move to land this man makes sense

|

Edinson CavaniArsene Wenger is preparing to launch a player-plus-cash move to land Edinson Cavani from PSG.

According to the Independent, Wenger is growing frustrated of Olivier Giroud’s inconsistency and is planning to offer the French forward plus £35 million upfront in order to secure the services of Cavani.

We have been tracking the Uruguayan for some time now and have again been linked with a move for him this summer as we look to strengthen our striking options.

The PSG striker is said to be unsettled at the Parc des Princes, but the Ligue 1 club are only willing to sell if the player’s £51 million buyout clause is met.

Due to a rib injury suffered by Zlatan Ibrahimovic last weekend however has Laurent Blanc pondering whether to sell Cavani at all. But the PSG boss may consider doing business with Wenger if Giroud was part of a potential offer.

As for Giroud, well he hasn’t exactly settled as well as many had hoped and his future looks in doubt at the Emirates due to his inconsistent performances.

Giroud’s off-field antics last season didn’t do him any favours with Wenger either, with previous reports suggesting his wife was looking to persuade the ex-Montpellier to return to France in March.

We have already forked out over £60 million for new recruits this summer, with Alexis Sanchez being the marquee signing thus far, but Wenger is shrewd when it comes to buying and a £51 million move for Cavani would be paying over the odds and a lot of cash to part with.

But Giroud plus £35 million could just tempt PSG to sell, while the French club would get a proven striker in the Ligue 1, Arsenal would be getting a forward known for goals, goals, goals.

Cavani scored 25 goals in his debut season for PSG since his move from Napoli, where he found the net 104 times in three seasons at the Serie A club.

This would be a great deal to undertake and hopefully it comes to fruition.

If we manage to sign Cavani for just £35 million then that would be seen as a bargain but pundits and fans alike.

Giroud is struggling and although he had a decent season for us last term, getting rid of him in order to see Cavani in the red and white of Arsenal would be worth it.

A sensible and thought out reported proposal. I hope to see it come to pass.

    Giroud should be disposed off

Giroud has been handed a platform for easy success. He is the lone striker of a midfield set up designed to supply quality ball within very close range of goal – needless to say 15 league goals is NOT a pass mark, despite what some blind supporters choose to believe. Giroud is a backup striker AT BEST. Anyone who disagrees clearly hasn’t been watching the strikers of our competitors in all parts of Europe. Its no exaggeration to say we have the weakest striker out of any team in the top 20 teams in the world

You’re very correct my brother in Arsenal. I’ve always said this but some of my Nigerian brothers like Dave Asapo were always quick to make excuses for him. Giroud may be a striker for what we call Sunday-Sunday football in Naija, but not for a team aspiring to win the EPL, Champions League, Europa League, or even Carlings Cup. In fact, for laughing out loud, is Giroud really a footballer, I think he should be on the run way. Question is what can we do to get stubborn Arsene to listen to our CRY, especially as money is no longer the issue. See how he(Arsene) was looking so helpless at Besiktas whereas it was a self-inflicted pain.

We have had enough of nonesese giord. No perfect ball control. It is a shame to him. He need to be replaced.

The boss believes he needs to do this top deal. Right? Then let him go ahead and do it. We ‘ve long been glamouring for a top quality signing and this will be it. Sanchez & Cavani, would not be bad. But honestly, Cavani’s age worries me.But if he will give us many goals that help us win big silverwares – BPL and the CL, even the quadruple for the next 1 – 2 years, no problem. Livepool, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd have become audacious in re-enforcing their squads with mouth watering signings. Therefore, we shouldn’t be left behind. So that we can compete with them properly.

It’s furstrating seen Giroud repeatedly playing the way he does(don’t seem concern about the task he’s carrying). Bringing Cavani to solve this nightmare is highly welcome.I think it’s time we neen to show more hunger and I can’t see that in Giroud. Go! Wenger please sanction that deal.

Can’t see it happening but fingers crossed it does would be brilliant to see cavani ripping teams in prem I reckon he will leave just not sure where! IMO if we got cavani, alderweirald and carvalho/khedira would make my day! We will av besiktas on wednesday ozil per nd podolski will be fresh giroud will be annoyed with critism, I think giroud is good better than when he joined but I agree we could do a lot better for our system

The Arsenal offensive midfield is very good and we need a poacher to bang in goals, if Cavani can do it so let it be, however i would have preferred Falcao he seems he can do it better.
