My Arsenal player ratings from today’s 2-2 draw with Everton

|

Olivier Giroud Here are my Arsenal player ratings from this evening’s 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park:

Wojciech Szczesny – Didn’t have much to do other than pick the ball out of his net on two occasions. Could have done better with the first but nothing he could do about the second. 6/10

Mathieu Debuchy – The French right-back did ok but struggled to contain Kevin Mirallas at times. Got forward well a few times during the match. 6/10

Calum Chambers – The 19-year-old did relatively well in a position he’s played in since joining the club this summer, and it’s not his natural one. Made a few judgmental errors but will learn the more he plays. Good display once again from Double C. 6/10

Per Mertesacker – Clearly lacking match fitness and needs more game time under his belt to get back to his best. Positional awareness was on point. 6/10

Nacho Monreal – Had a torrid time trying to contain Sheamus Coleman and Romelu Lukaku at times. Not known for his defending but drove forward well and delivered a great ball into the box for Giroud to header in. 6/10

Mathieu Flamini – Fought hard in the middle of the park and got stuck in. As usual, the French midfielder got booked! 7/10

Jack Wilshere – Had a fairly average game, but was also anonymous at times. Doesn’t fit well into this current Arsenal side and is lacking creativity which we saw him craft a few seasons ago. 5/10

Aaron Ramsey – A poor game for the Welshman, and he would be the first to admit it. But he managed to get on the scoresheet once again which got the Gunners going. 6/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Made a few decent runs forward and also had two decent efforts which were wide of the mark. Average. 5/10

Mesut Ozil – Like Per, Ozil lacked match fitness and it showed. Struggled to get back at times and sharpness isn’t there yet. 5/10

Alexis Sanchez – Led the line and busted a gut to get things going. Hassled defenders when possible and got back when he lost the ball. Unfortunately, the Chilean didn’t trouble Tim Howard’s goal. 6/10

SUBS:

Olivier Giroud – Came on for the second-half for Alexis and got into the game very quickly. Won a few balls in the air and held up play when he could. Caused Everton’s defence trouble and scored Arsenal’s second with an incisive header. Changed the game. 7.5/10

Santi Cazorla – Came on for Wilshere with 16 minutes to go. Got caught out in possession at times but delivered a beautiful low cross which Rambo converted. 5.5/10

Joel Campbell – Replaced Chambo in the 74th minute and was deployed on the right of midfield. Made some nice runs forward and tried to make things happen by moving into good positions. 5/10

Wilshere has no business wearing an Arsenal jersey. Period. Lets get a striker and DMF now

Welsher should enjoy the bench for sometime if he keeps dissappearing on important runs like these we gave everton a lot of time on ball even that mancty flop gary seemed to enjoy the empty field to himself

Wilshire is the Ramsey of 2 seasons ago. Everyone hates him now,but when he comes good, we’ll all love him again.

Forward and DM. We’ve needed a defensive midfielder for so long. Even when we had Song he was always getting caught out up field leaving the back 4 exposed. Arteta is disciplined and does his best, but he’s not really a defensive midfielder.

  • Gift Chikonye says:

Campbell changed the game. He deserve at least 6/10

  • Niall says:

Think Monreal is a weak link. Fine going forward but after all he has to be able to defend. Struggled today doing just that!

  • Saj says:

Great result considering the Lino was blind.

    Jack will come good

Monreal isn’t good enough and if Gibbs keeps getting injured we need to buy another.

I think wenger will buy after we get through the CL qualifier, but not the CB, DM and CF we desperately need.
