Why Wenger MUST sign this Italian ace

|

His height may be a concern as he only stands at 5’4’’ and he isn’t the strongest of players. But history has shown us that this doesn’t matter, not in this day and age of football. Gianfranco Zola only stood at 5’6’’ but his creativity, technical ability and speed made him one of the best the English game has ever seen. I’m not saying the same can be said about Insigne, but it could be.

Wenger has supposedly been given a £100 million warchest by the board to spend this summer, and the Frenchman will be thinking which areas need strengthening ahead of the new season. Many of us will think a goalkeeper, right-back, defensive midfielder and striker should be the priority, but I also think a natural winger needs to be added.

Insigne, who has had loan stints at Cavese, Foggia and Pescara during his time at Napoli, would fit the bill perfectly. I would think his potential arrival would appease most of the Emirates faithful and show the club do mean business next season.

Napoli won’t be keen to sell one of their prized assets as he still has four-years left to run on his contract. However, they could reluctantly decide to sell if Arsenal table an offer the Serie A side can’t turn down.

According to Transfermrkt, the Italy international is currently valued at £13.2 million, now I don’t know how credible this is but it must be close to the player’s worth as Arsenal are planning a £17 million swoop. Now for me, this is great value for a player who could potentially be a world beater in 4-5 years time.

So to conclude, I for one would love to see the Insigne’s ingenuity at the Emirates this summer. It will be hard for Wenger to seal this deal, but the Frenchman can perform miracles in the transfer window (just look at who he bought on deadline day last summer!).

If Napoli choose to play hardball, which they will obviously do and who can blame them, Wenger knows that Rafa Benitez was keen on Thomas Vermaelen during the winter and can decide to offer cash plus the Belgian centre-back, whose future at Arsenal is in limbo at the moment, if the Naples club demand for a monstrous fee.

do we really want another little guy???
How about buying some big forward players like Di Maria and Lukaku?

  • Millz says:

The guys 5″4. No thanks. Only top top quality players can handle the prem when they’re that size.

Sorry Tony. I’m a little in the dark here. Can you please tell me what experience and credentials you have to think that you know better than Mr Wenger. Or are you just another bloke who thinks that because you write a blog that makes you some sort of authority on football perhaps?

Well all this is speculation methinks. When Wenger will sign it will be:
1- someone most of us never heard of or

2- someone we will all go WOW. A la Ozil or
3- ‘I cant believe he just that’ remember Battista?
