Reported Arsenal target Juanfran has no intention of leaving Ateltico Madrid this summer.
With Bacary Sagna confirming his exit from Arsenal this summer, Arsene Wenger is on the hunt to find a suitor to fill the Frenchman’s boots at right-back and has been linked with 3-4 names already, including Juanfran.
However, despite interest from the Gunners, the 29-year-old Spaniard recently stated that his future lies with Atletico Madrid.
Quoted on talkSPORT.com, Juanfran said:
‘There is much talk. For me the most important thing is to be at Atletico Madrid. This is my home. Nor have I rejected anyone, that is the reality.
‘I know there was interest from Arsenal, and that it was last year, but there has been no offer of any kind. I feel 100% Atletico.’
In my opinion, Juanfran would’ve been the perfect replacement for Sagna. The Spaniard has bags of energy; gets forward well and is equally as good defending. He is also regarded as one of the most reliable full-backs in world football.
But it appears the Spain international will remain at the Vicente Calderon for the foreseeable future, leaving Wenger to look elsewhere.
If I were Wenger I would focus my attention on Toulouse’s Serge Aurier, as the Ivorian previously claimed he would love to join the Gunners.
