Be careful what you wish for

Arsene WengerI’m reading a lot about how Arsene Wenger is to blame for Arsenal spiralling out of control as of late, seeing the club go from top of the table (challenging for the title) to now fighting to finish in the top four in the space of a few weeks. Yet the majority of the Emirates faithful have pointed the finger of blame firmly at the Frenchman, not at the players – which is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion.

Of course he does have to hold his hands up and accept the share of the blame for the club’s implosion, but what about the players? Do you not think they too should be blamed for our recent run of form and performances? Wenger instructs each and every one of them what to do and where they should be during the course of the game, but it’s not his fault if they don’t deliver the goods. As players representing the famous red and white of Arsenal, they should all look at themselves in the mirror and say ‘am I giving it my all?’ sadly, they aren’t, and that’s not Wenger’s error, its there’s.

Wenger still hasn’t confirmed whether he will stay beyond his existing contract, which expires at the end of the season, and you have a number of rash fans calling for the Frenchman to walk away after what they have seen in recent weeks – ludicrous!

Wenger has done so much for this club and he deserves respect, no matter the outcome this season.

What if he wins the FA Cup and manages to qualify for the Champions League? Would you still want him to leave?

And if he does decide to call it quits in the summer, who exactly will come in to replace him? I don’t see any top managers out of work at the moment, and those top managers I speak of are at elite clubs as well. Be careful what you wish for.

Yes we were challenging for the title up until February but fell flat on our faces, but last year we were nowhere near the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City – even United were on top of us and look where they are now!

Stop your moaning and be happy that Wenger has and continues to stabilise our club, and if we manage to lift the FA Cup at the end of May, as well as finish in the top four, then the Frenchman deserves to be applauded.

I have the same feelings as rest of us fans! I want us to win FA cup and qualify for champs league! We need it for major signings not only that I would like wenger to go out with a bang! Maybe he’s finally woke up and realised we need certain players let’s get them early and win everything next season! ( Yh I mite be dreaming) then he can leave as he should! He done a lot for us but now he’s unwinding it all I’m not a manager but I can tell u this arsene SIGN SOME QUALITY PLAYERS! If every other team can do it why can’t we! Without making stupid same ol excuses we are constantly linked with players who go to other teams arsenal will be know as club that target players for others to buy! Mite aswell be gocomparearsenalfortransfertargets! Fix up wenger and the players is it just me who finks this?!!

Arsene Wenger is responsible for team performance and results, for team election and tactics and for buying players – £7.5 million a year to do that.

If Arsenal are struggling it is his fault and no one else’s because, like I said he is paid £7.5 million a year for it.

It is clear he is no longer up to the task and therefore he should go.

£7.5 million to struggle to get fourth.

    Not good enough by far

£7.5 million should get us a top class manager…

This post doesn’t make sense. I wish you didn’t write anything at all. If a manager is not to be blame for the failure of a football team, then who’s to be blamed. DELUDED! Who brought the players in? Who makes the team selection? Who instructs players what to do? Rubbish!

The bulk always falls at the chairmans table, whatever happens in any nation the leader of that nation must take the full blame more especially in management circle, what has happened nd what is happening has been so obvious,Oliver G,would have been a better striker had we have another sharper striker,nd he has been used out of proportion, that area has been the problem the manager refuse to address nd it become so weak that we can not trouble our opponent, for they said …attack is the best way of defense, since we can ‘nt score goals the opposite is that we conceed goals period, that in high magnitude .

wenger is to blame for the poor run of our recent form, he is the manager and he behaves like the players are his brothers, he dont want to annoy any of them when they deliver good results. Look at Mourinho who works on the principle of “you score, you start the next match” but Wenger has Giroud who scored 3 months ago and is a regular starter and Podolski, a quality and better 9, is always warming the bench. After all if Wenger leaves, he is not a god. Remember Martinez was a Wigan manager and now he is wanted at Barcelona. you see, from zero to hero! I simply mean to say WENGER OUT!!!!!!!!

Deserving respect is not the same as being entitled to keep your job if you keep repeating the same mistakes again, and again, and again. Just because someone has done a good job in the past doesn’t mean they are doing good job in the present nor does it guarantee they will do a good job in the future. It seems to me Wenger, once brilliant and peerless, is a fading star who often seems lost when confronted by the way a lot of the newer managers send out their teams. It would be best for him if he could leave with his held high and the respect of the fans before the relationship deteriorates beyond the point of no return. It would be a shame to see him leave amidst a chorus of jeers, boos and general contempt.

I presume you only wrote this post to get hits right? Surely you cannot believe this drivel? Wenger Out today!!!

Turn it in will ya? Give me a legitimate reason for this man staying apart from sentiment? There isn’t one – full stop. Of course some of the players haven’t played well but it’s plain to see that it’s more than that. He picks them, he motivates them (except he can’t now), he sends them out as lambs to the slaughter, devoid of any tactics or game plan. THE WHOLE WORLD knew we needed a striker in Jan and he did NOTHING! Year after year our best players get injured in the run in, not only is that bad but he has no clue why?! That isn’t coincidence, it’s poor management and has happened for years. Yesterday, not only did Everton stuff us, they took the pi*s out of us and all their players and fans knew it – it used to be the other way round. Even Kenwright was on TV at the end romanticising about the wonders of their season and Martinez, I wanted to be sick. I do respect Wenger for what he’s done, I remember a worse Arsenal than this. But the difference is that we, i.e. the fans weren’t being ripped off for mediocrity back then – we weren’t paying the highest prices in Europe and being cheated by the club trying to convince us we were competing with the best. You ask me if we finish 4th and win the FA Cup do I still want him gone? ABSOLUTELY I DO. He should have gone 5 years ago, he has let the game overtake him and he has no answer. Yesterday he just sat there for the entire game, if it’s the players fault for the performances why didn’t he do something? Make a change? Instead of leave it until the usual 70 mins mark and making the standard subs he always makes. His time has finished, thanks for the memories but it’s time to go. There will be plenty of decent managers who could take the job, it’s ridiculous to say otherwise. But as long as fans like you keep ringing the Wenger bell and defending him NOTHING WILL CHANGE because nothing has changed for the last 6 years. Each season has been exactly the same as the last and will continue so long as this farce is allowed to go on.

  • Real Gunner says:

Even if players are not delivering enough on the pitch it’s the boss’s shame, why doesn’t he fire them?? They’re paid to do the job if they don’t, he should take them out and bring others who can do the job. According to what you’re saying it’s like he’s the one made for that job and i’m afraid that is not the case. We are fed up of a manager with the same response and excuse: we’ll focus on our next game and we’ll come next season stronger… Our club will be more stable without Wenger, I personally think that the type of players we have are enough to lift the PL.
