arsenal-badgeHere are my Arsenal player ratings from today’s embarrassing 5-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield earlier today:

Wojciech Szczesny – The only player I felt sorry for today. Couldn’t have done much to prevent the five goals he conceded. Made a super save from a pinpoint Luis Suarez free-kick in the second half. 6/10

Bacary Sagna – Was all over the place today. Poor positioning throughout and delivery into the box wasn’t good enough. 3/10

Per Mertesacker – Couldn’t keep up with the pace of Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge and Suarez and looked like a deer caught in the headlights at times. 3/10

Laurent Koscielny – Tried his best to lead the back-line but getting stuck in and making challenges but his positioning was non-existent today. 3/10

Nacho Monreal – Like Sagna, the Spaniard’s positioning was awful and he was the weak link today. Most of Liverpool’s goals came from the left flank but to Monreal’s defence, there was a lack of protection from his team-mate in front of him. Still a poor display thought. 2/10

Mikel Arteta – Misplaced many passes throughout and struggled to get into the game and dictate it. Scored Arsenal’s only goal through a penalty. 4/10

Jack Wilshere – Lacks match fitness and it showed in the first half with loose balls and movement. Did better in the second half by driving the team forward when they had the ball but it was too late by then. 4/10

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – The winger made a few decent runs forward but they amounted to nothing. Failed to make an impact. 3/10

Santi Cazorla – Was very, very quiet today. Wasn’t sharp on the ball and struggled to create anything. Offered very little protection to the full-back behind him as well. 2/10

Mesut Ozil – Misplaced many passes and lacked conviction and awareness this afternoon. Was robbed of the ball in the midfield which led to Liverpool’s second. Looked uninterested and annoyed. 2/10

Olivier Giroud – I think he touched the ball a few times, lost the ball on a number of occasions and  was eventually substituted early in the second 45. Didn’t manage to get a shot on target and as a striker you have to at least do that. 1/10

SUBS:

Kieran Gibbs – Came on for Monreal in the 57th minute. Got forward well but again, like our other left-back, Gibbs struggled to keep up with the pace of the game. 3/10

Tomas Rosicky – Replaced Ozil in the 57th minute and got more touches than some players which played the entire game. His arrival added a little more energy but to no vain. 3/10

Lukas Podolski – Came on for Giroud in the 57th minute and made some intelligent runs but couldn’t revive what can only be described as a terrible performance from our side. 3/10

Shambles all around,we are being held back by a dinosaur approach to big games by Wenger.

I dont envy Wenger’s job at all. Lose one match and its “we are being held back by a dinosaur approach to big games by Wenger” the very same tactics which are exactly why we remain top of the league right now. Some people need to learn to deal with disappointment better and move on

  • Ggs says:

to the Danish Gooner the dinosaur does not play football if you open you eyes you would see 11 players on the pitch….that dinosaur when his gone will laugh at stupid fans like you, you should go and support Chelsea…it would live us real fans to stick with our team and club through thick and thin….

Pls I beg to disagree with you. We do have rights to comment on our club when it is doing right or wrong; majority have been saying that we need quality striker! Is Djourou in the class of Henry, Suarez, Aguero etc?. So, why should Wenger settle for a striker who can’t run, can’t dribble, can’t take on 2 defenders but plays only as midfielder! Are you saying the great Arsenal does not deserve something better? Look at d left full back, are you saying Gibbs and Monreal are world class stuff?if they were to be in Chelsea, M.City, Barca or Bayern would they command shirts? Pls let us be real, Wenger can’t buy right anymore. I honestly think its time for him to move on, the stake is raised in Premiership and he doesn’t have the title inning credentials anymore!

Hahahahahahaha Ggs,it isnt April fools day.

A shocking display by the entire team today. I felt there was no tactical approach to this game. In fact it’s difficult to analyse our performance today. Chelsea will never lose game with this kind of score margin, because an away game against a team with such fast attackers as Liverpool has must be tactically approached differently. lt’s a woeful performance today. One only hopes that this defeat doesn’t signal the start of the much awaited collapse by this Arsenal team.

Why he can not play Gibbs . . Waz his prblm

  • Richard says:

The defence may have been poor but the midfield never protected them at all, and that includes all the midfield who were a disgrace. Alright going forwards but incapable of tracking back and marking, it seems that if the opposition play fast against us we are unable to compete. So don’t blame the defence they were let down by the rest of the team and we don’t have any replacements of high enough quality

Lets make the comments this time next month. We will soon find out how much Arsenal have progressed this season. I am waiting for the right moment to pass judgement and that will happen when we know we are not in contention for silverware!!!

    • Remitifede says:

…so, in your heart of hearts you think Wenger can ever win title in England AGAIN???

      • gunneRay says:

Who knows? All I’m saying is it’s not over until it’s over and even AW deserves that much.. judge him at the end of the season!

  • meesquared says:

we are the gunners! keep the faith… dissapionted with this tho… hmmmm

  • Peter Chila says:

    Gunny Pete!

I think it’s high time Wenger starts to value the funs views, if he gives away this title he should just go!.
Why doesn’t he lean from the past experiences.
