MBaye NiangAlthough we could utilize Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott as a striker to support Olivier Giroud, a lot of us still believe adding another striker to the squad would be more beneficial in the long-term.

A number of top forwards have already been linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window but the latest doesn’t do anything for me, if of course reports in Italy are to be believed.

Apparently, Arsene Wenger could reignite his interest in AC Milan’s M’Baye Niang who has become unsettled at the San Siro club.

Wenger was looking at the young Frenchman when he was at Caen and even offered him a trial in summer 2012. However, the 18-year-old opted to join AC Milan but has found it hard to settle in Italy.

As stated above, we could well do with another forward coming in to strengthen the front-line and help out Giroud with the goals, but I really hope it isn’t Niang.

I’ve watched the lanky striker a few times for Milan this season and I don’t think he’s capable of playing in the Premier League and especially for our club. His movement on and off the ball is poor for my liking and he doesn’t have the ball control or technical ability to succeed at Arsenal.

In addition, he’s still very young at just 18, so is there any point of going for another unproven French striker? We already have Yaya Sanogo as it is and if Niang was to come in would he really help out Giroud with the goals? Well his stats wouldn’t suggest so. Since signing for Milan last summer, Niang has only managed to find the back of the net twice in 35 total appearances for the Italian outfit, that’s a goal every 17.5 games – not impressive at all.

Need better than Niang if we are indeed looking to improve our firepower this January.

No idea what games you’ve seen him play – but Niang is a terrific striker who will emrge as one of the best playing in Europe over the next two seasons. If we can buy him, we should do it immediately!

I’ve seen him Niang play this season as well and I have to say I agree with the writer. Niang isn’t all that and his movement is pretty shoddy. two goals in 35 games for Milan says it all really
