German starlet Julian Draxler has put Arsenal on red alert after hinting at a summer switch to the Emirates.
The Schalke midfielder was reportedly tracked by the Gunners over the summer but the north London club were put off by the 20-year-old’s price-tag – believed to be, at the time, a massive £60 million.
But Draxler has recently admitted that he would consider a move to England and appears keen on Arsenal, although he did indicate nothing will happen until the end of the season:
‘For my club I have the chance to play nearly every game, it is important for me to improve myself.
‘I have said every summer I have to look what is the best for me and I will do in the summer again and we will see what happens.
‘But no way. I won’t switch then (in January).’
While United and Chelsea are both interested in the Germany international, Arsenal, who have Lukas Podolski, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker, looks the more likely destination for Draxler, who has spoken to Per and Mesut about the Emirates outfit:
‘I have always said English teams are very big clubs and Arsenal is of course one of them.
‘Of course I sometimes speak to Mesut or Per about the team, about the club, and they always have good words and they tell me nice things.
‘You never know what happens in the summer, but Arsenal is a very, very nice team.
‘They always have very young players, they play attractive football and that is what I like.’
Well if Arsene Wenger is in fact keeping tabs on Draxler and wants to bring him to the Emirates then the Frenchman now has the incentive to go for him at the end of the season.
