A no-brainer for Wenger and Arsenal this January?

Julio CesarQPR have admitted that Julio Cesar can leave on a free in the January transfer window.

The Brazilian shot-stopper was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer. But having failed to land the experienced Cesar (due to the player’s huge wages) Arsene Wenger instead decided to sign Emiliano Viviano from Palermo on a one-year loan with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

However, Wenger may rekindle his interest in the 34-year-old knowing that QPR are now ready to let him leave for nothing when the transfer window re-opens, as confirmed by Hoops boss Harry Redknapp:

‘He needs to play and I feel he’s a player who could play for any team in the world’

‘We won’t stand in his way. We’ll let him go for free.’

But having signed Viviano (for at least the season) and also have Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski to call upon, should Wenger attempt to sign Cesar?

In my opinion, I think it would be foolish not to go for Cesar this winter. The Brazilian will cost nothing and I’m sure we can afford his wages having signed Mesut Ozil for big bucks over the summer. In addition, Fabianski is an inconsistent performer and does exactly pose a threat to Woj, while Viviano is clearly on our books this season should the worse happen because he hasn’t featured for us yet – he’ll more than likely be back at Palermo come the end of the season.

Signing Cesar on a free is a no-brainer to me and I hope Arsenal show interest in him this January.

Well, do you know why Redknapp put him on the bench? A brazilian (serious title contender of WC 2014) no 1 stopper (can’t find any one younger & better mate?) as a QPR bench warmer for no reason at all? And you suggest Arsene to sign him? You must be no brain! Cesar was great back to his Inter’s day, but I believe he isn’t that good today do to aging. Time will tell if Arsene brainlessly sign him to make extra budget wages for our GK’s.

So by your logic Iker Casillas is crap because he is warming the bench at Real Madrid? talking rubbish mate. Fact is we need someone to challenge Szczesny for the gloves. If he picks up a long-term injury then we’re going to have to rely on Viviano and Fabianski! Despite not starting for QPR, Cesar is a top notch keeper who can get in any side in the world – so why not Arsenal for nothing?
