Are we a ‘stronger’ outfit despite yet making any top signings?

Wojciech SzczesnyWhile many of us may disagree, Wojciech Szczesny insists Arsenal HAVE strengthened over the summer despite making any big signings yet.

The 23-year-old Pole believes good times lie ahead because no top names have left the Emirates this summer like previous ones.

He told The Sun:

‘You try not to think of the sagas – Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri.

‘But it’s always in your mind you’ll lose another top player.

‘This time, everyone is talking about who Arsenal are bringing in. That makes us feel stronger.’

I can concur with Szczesny’s comments – a lot of deadwood has already been shifted but none of our integral players have been linked with moves away from our club, and this can only be good.

While we look to be keeping our top players put, and the team continue to gel, the need for a few additions in the upcoming weeks, preferably before the season starts, is a must.

Hopefully we see some new faces arrive, the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez, Marouane Fellaini. If we can manage to attain one or two of them then we will be considered serious title contenders this season. If we have a stable squad already, why not improve it in the areas which need it and compete for silverware this season?

arsenal should sign Suarez and forget the fact that they are wining pre-season matches

  • Luke says:

Agreed Anchi. Or Higuain. This is the worst Arsenal team in years.

  • Mikey 1 says:

It’s not the worst arsenal team in years but we need added quality players to push for trophy’s this coming season..!

Yes we are stronger….but there will be no chance of winning zilch without some top class signings, because other teams getting stronger too, stronger than us. With three good players maybe we could win the Premier League. With no signings we will win nothing.

We don’t want to hear alot of stories just because we are off season before the season end we heard that ‘ll spend big in the summer now time has come spend the money don’t forget Arsenal is the only team that used to have alot of injured players so if team doesn’t buy guality player we ‘ll regret. GUNNERZ 4 LIFE.

serious minded teams are busy strengthening while all Wenger does is go about denying every link to any player. Good, non of the top guys are leaving and the dead woods are being cleared out but who are we bringing in? can’t believe Diaby is still a player of Arsenal and is it a French unknown we should pin our hope on for trophies. For God sake Wenger get busy and stop all these rubbish talk, christ!

This is the worst side certainly under Wenger’s reign – not one of the current side would get into the unbeatable first team. Beating Vietnam or Indonesia’s Dream Team is no guide at all to how we will do against City, United or Chelsea. Arsenal need top quality players and in truth it does not look like we are going to get any – Wenger has to go…

Of course there is going to be natural improvement in the team. The players we bought last year have a year in EPL under their belts. Theo, Ox, Jack, Jenkinson, Gibbs are a year older and wiser, so should have better season than last. Yeh, things looking good, but not good enough to win the title.

Nonsensical nonsense! With that same squad last term, how did they fare against their rivals? Embarrassing defeats! Because they played with non title contenders towards the end of the season, thereby giving a wrong impression about the strenght of the team with easy wins which won them Wenger’s title – “fourth place finish.” (without a medal) Szczesny can now tell us that the team metarmorphosed into a giant killer in less than two months of break. If they gamble with this team next term, I tell you they’ll not see seventh even. Coward! Not man enough to tell Wenger the truth like Gallas did who lost his captain’s band cos he questioned the team’s ambition. Please someone should tell them that Mourinho is now in charge at Chelsea.

Arsenal is a better team. Much better than the start of last season. I won’t judge arsenal until they play that preseason game against city n the emirates cup will show the progress of the team. So all u dumb @*?!s cut the team some slack.

  • Anon says:

Arsenal are a stronger side by the simple fact players have bedded down, are experienced in the league now and we have not lost any major or first team players.

    However …

forget about the three teams above us, they are miles ahead.

But more worryingly, look at spurs. They comfortably played better football than us last year, bale was stella and they had a much better record against the top 6 teams, ours by comparison was abysmal.
It looks like Bale will stay, they have signed two extra players and holtby will have settled in. If bale stays, they may still need a striker at long last, but it is not the end of the world… as Bale is that good. Maybe another defender… This team should have topped us last term … but every year that passes, they get stronger, we get weaker and unless we make some big moves in the transfer market to finally replace the van persies and cescs we lost, we will not get fourth .. let alone push forward and upwards.
