Should Arsenal form a ‘guard of honour’ this Sunday?

|

Arsenal badgeArsenal take on Manchester United at The Emirates this Sunday, which promises to be a highly charged game to say the least.

United clinched the Premier League title on Monday night against Aston Villa thanks to a hat-trick from Robin van Persie.

So they visit The Emirates as champions and traditionally, they (the champions) get applauded on to the field of play by the opposing team who create what is called a ‘guard of honour’. And this is what we face this Sunday.

However, recent reports claim the Arsenal faithful will turn their backs if it happens, while Arsene Wenger insists it must go trough. Not because it is United but because Van Persie returns to the place where he honed his talent, made his name and left last summer in unfashionable circumstances.

There were only two possibilities that could have occurred when Sir Alex Ferguson’s men came to The Emirates this weekend – either they would walk through a ‘guard of honour’ or possibly have won the title at The Emirates. Out of the two, I probably would’ve preferred the former, and I think many would agree with this.

So the question is – should Arsenal do create a ‘guard of honour’ for Van Persie and co.?

Personally, I think it is a stupid tradition which needs re-addressing, but one that must be kept nonetheless.

The Arsenal team should take part but I wouldn’t blame the fans for turning their backs while it’s going on. I for one certainly won’t be clapping them out this Sunday.

Yes or no to the ‘guard of honour’?

JEALOUSY! Petty Jealousy! How many seasons did you have RVP? One man doesn’t make a team hence the super pass from Rooney for one of his goals, but he is with better players at United hence the trophy!

Do arsenal fans really want to themselves down to the level of city fans, there may even be a chance that it may be arsenal walking through the guard of honour, then what tossers will you feel when and if other babies with lost dummy’s turn there backs on arsenal, just grow a spine and think for yourselves, if other fans jump under a bus, are arsenal fans going to copy, just think for YOURSELVES.

of course there should be a guard of honour, let’s respond with a little decorum then play them off the park

Of course we should form a guard of honour, it’s the classy thing to do. RVP left because he could see the direction the club were going in, and has been proved right.
Don’t blame him, blame the club for not investing the money made on the transfer making us weaker as a result.
We are not Uniteds rivals anymore, nor will we be until the club and Wenger change tact.
    Up the Arsenal!
