Can he really keep Szczesny out of the starting line-up?

|

Lukasz FabianskiLukasz Fabianski has recently been given a run in the first-team by Arsene Wenger – something that has not happened for a while for the Polish shot-stopper, as Wojciech Szczesny seemed untouchable at the time.

Whenever the 27-year-old returns from injury he makes a bold statement of intent which proves his worth but ultimately fades or the inconsistency starts to creep in. This leaves a question to be answered, which is – can Fabianski keep Szczesny out of the starting line-up for the long-term?

Well, like I’ve said before, he only seems to produce stunning displays for a short period of time, and has never been able to hold down a regular spot in the side.

It is clear for all to see that we have a serious issue in the goalkeeper department with complacency and inconsistency seeming to be the order of the day.

Fabianski may be impressing at the moment, but to say he can keep Szczesny out of the starting 11 would be a bit far-fetched in my opinion.

Szczesny is the better goalie of the two, even though he is still prone to errors from time to time.

The only way the two Poles will get better is if we had an experienced goalkeeper join us this summer to show them the way and enhance their ability further.

So, can Fabianski keep Szczesny out of the starting line-up?

I hope Szez gets back in the team now.
Fabianski is a mistake waiting to happen. He has flapped and missed every corner since getting into the squad and hasn’t really had many saves to make with most shots going wide or over. He is poor and we must not forget the catalogue of howlers he has made in the past.

It is not inconsistancy, but more often injuries that have interupted Fabianski’s comebacks. It was an injury to Fabianski, when he was performing admirably, that gave Szczesny his chance in the first place.
I am also not convinced as to who is the better keeper.

I always thought teams had a GK coach, a defensive coach and an attacking coach. It seems to make sense to me in this modern football game we have.
I think Fab is playing because AFC are going to sell him and he is given this chance to perform for the suitors that may be.
AW must know he needs to buy a GK and that Fab will then look to leave then. Sz will be nr 2 and Mannone nr 3.

Fabianski may not be good enough for Arsenal, but he is better than Szczesny. Szczesny concede the silliest of goals, while Fabianski is more agile.
