Former Gunner not keen on Emirates return

|

Carlos VelaFormer Gunner Carlos Vela wants to stay at Real Sociedad next season and has not even though about a possible return to Arsenal.

The 24-year old signed for Arsenal back in 2005 from Guadalaraja but did not make his first-team debut for the club until the 2008/09 season. During his time at the north London club, The Mexican forward was sent out on loan four times, as he struggled to cement a regular first-team place under Arsene Wenger, before signing for Sociedad last summer.

Vela managed to net 12 goals and contribute eight assists in 37 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga side last season.

The Gunners inserted a buy-back clause in his deal to join Sociedad and reports have even suggested that Wenger could look to trigger that option at the end of the season.

However, Vela admits he wants to ply his trade at Sociedad and thanked Wenger for giving him the opportunity to play in Europe.

The Mexico international, according to talkSPORT.com, told Spanish news international agency EFE:

‘Arsenal are a big team who gave me the opportunity to play in Europe. I will always remember that, but I didn’t have the opportunities that I felt I deserved.

‘I am very happy here [at Real Sociedad] and would like to stay here.’

I for one don’t see why Wenger would look to bring back a player he obviously didn’t have a lot of faith in when he was at the club in the first place.

Vela clearly doesn’t want to make a return to Arsenal, so there is no point of even trying to lure him back!

I lie Wenger but one of the things that make you wonder is not giving a player like Vela a chance and paying good money for Gervinho?? That youth setup with Vela on the wing was promising, and it showed last night that he did not play for Mexico. I am happy he found a spot in Spain, I would not like to see him back under the dizzy perfessor!!
