He couldn’t be anymore Wright

|

Arsene Wenger‘You have to blame the manager for the sheer arrogance of not putting enough into the competition.’

These are the words of Ian Wright following Arsenal’s shock exit to Blackburn in the FA Cup yesterday afternoon. And I have to say Wright has hit the nail on the head.

Arsene Wenger decided to ‘rest’ some key players ahead of Tuesday’s game against Bayern Munich. However, after things weren’t going there way, the Frenchman then thought to bring on the big guns in Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla. So I just don’t get why he didn’t start with them in the first place.

The result has left us little to hope for in terms of silverware this season, with the Champions League the only trophy available to us now. But let’s face it, it is going to take a miracle to overcome Bayern over two legs let alone win the competition.

The FA Cup was our only realistic chance of ending our trophy drought, which looks to be stretched another year, and Wenger opted to not take it seriously.

Wright went on to say:

‘The fact is when you’ve got your manager talking about fourth place being the only priority, why are the players going to be any more up for it?

‘The manager has made it clear that the FA Cup is something he’s not bothered about but what he is missing is that the FA Cup is something that is worth winning – it’s a great day for the fans.’

I can understand the importance of finishing in the top four, but Wenger has to realise we are not challenging for silverware, which is very worrying. The fact is we have declined drastically since 2005 and if things don’t change quickly then we could well be another Liverpool in the making.

Complete BS – the team put out was more then capable of beating Blackburn. Players need to take a long hard look at themselves for failing the club. Wenger and Bould will I’m sure give them hell – did you see them shouting at the game?! they were furious. All playing staff and team management need to step it up.

Perspective though… Could be a lot worse then our current position.

    • Tom says:

Zakk – Could be worse? Getting bounced by a league two club away in the league cup and Blackburn at home in FA cup in the same season, while having the worst start to a Premier League under Wenger, are all new lows for this regime. But I guess you are right Zakk, it’s all about the perspective . If an asteroid hit the Emirates stadium tomorrow , that would be a lot worse.

Grow up, it’s football, these things happen. If you’re to weak to deal with this, take up train spotting. Magic and romance of the cup works both ways.

What a moronic response. So we shouldn’t be annoyed with going out of both Cups to lower division opposition ? As well as being miles off the pace in the EPL. Do you see any evidence at all of Arsenal practicing set pieces – corners ? free kicks ? Or crossing ? or shooting ? Or preparing tactically for differing opposition ? Wenger will accept nothing but YES from his coaching staff and sends the team out to play the same old Wenger way every time. All other clubs know exactly how to play against us and he knows nothing different. Do you know how differently (say) Man. Utd prepare for different matches ?? Never mind you may not understand such things.

fans like you are the mugs who dont care about the good of the club more wenger fans then arsenal fans….how can anyone be happy with the club
or how much money we make yet never spend any….always buying cheaper options. ..why is gervino even playing giroud is a good back up but not good enough to be in our first eleven….as you said the players that was out there should of won just like bradford so maybe its the manager that is not doing the right thing if the players was good enough.

Someone need to turn the heat on Wenger if Munich smash us on tuesday.People must make it clear this is simply unacceptable for Englands third biggest club.

The team selected should have been strong enough and even overpowering against Blackburn…..IF we are to believe Prof. Wenger that he ONLY buys quality players who are able to have the required impact for Arsenal. This guy Wenger is halucinating or senile!!! How can any serious football enthusiast still stubbornly believe what Wenger has to say??
In his books quality amounts to average players such as Gervinho, Ramsey, Kosc., Vermaelen, Diaby, Squilaci, Djourou etc. etc.
He now marvels at the quality of Villa, however, this poor guy has had his quality days which are now obviously on the decline.
The sooner we can get a new management and a new Football Manager with a realistic perspective of the game in terms of players available for Arsenal, the sooner we will again, slowly, start to regain some of the respect which belongs to Arsenal.

Wright will do anything for attention ever since Henry put his record to bed

You know what the biggest problem of Arsenal Football Club is? The fans. They are the most critical and bitter fans in the county. Say Arsenal win against Blackburn with a full strength team, but Wilshere or Cazorla get injured, would the fans complain? Of course they would, because they love to complain. I agree Wenger has lost his touch in the transfer market somewhat, but he has made up for it this season with some quality signings. But nothing he will do will ever be good enough for our fans! Win or well get on your back, unnecessary pressure for within the club. What happens when united go a goal down at old Trafford? The crowd get louder and cheer the team on. Arsenal fans go quiet, and the only noise that can be heard is abuse and distain. Get behind the team, stop pointing the finger and support the 11 wearing red and white. Simple

    • gooneray says:

Just to reply the comparison with us and old trafford is when united need strengthening the fans know fergie does it straight away when wenger needs to strengthen he waits for a bargain and aims low and I will say he hits his targets. We the supporters as a group have seen this decline and it should be addressed. Give us something to shout about and not moan about. United count runners up as a loss of a season and wenger counts 4th as a priority.

    • the king says:

players will get injourd is normal in football thats why you have 24 player not eleven….how can any fan be happy with things at the club?..do you know we was winning things day in day out 7 years ago every world class player wanted to join. our club is one of the richers clubs in the world…why do we never have any money to spend ?….no real arsenal fan is happy with the club….the problem is wenger fans alot of fans love wenger more then the club. but no manager or player is bigger then the club.

    • John says:

Quite. Bunch of pathetic moaning clowns who think they know better than professionals about running a football team. Give an idiot a tabloid magazine and a keyboard and they think they are football experts.
Support the team!! This is football, shit happens, this is a bad year for Arsenal. Tough, live with it.

    • Well said, Declan. I agree: we have some of the worst “fans” in the country.

  • EIE says:

    Declan…..Fuck Off!

  • Mike Gooner says:

Wenger hasn’t a clue, the team (other than wilshere, Walcott and cazorla) isn’t good enough and we still have deluded arsenal fans that think the manager shouldn’t be ditched. No doubt these people haven’t any knowledge about the game whatsoever. This is the worst squad in wengers reign and that French twat has been telling us he needs no-one. He should be sacked for his stubbornness alone. Fourth place is no trophy!! And to go out against Bradford and Blackburn the way we did is a joke. If there not going to sack wenger for being stubborn, at least shoot him for signing gervinho the bloke can’t shoot to save his life. I’ve had enough of getting excited about supporting this shower of shit. My Sunday football team can defend better than the whole of arsenals back four. Nice one wenger!! U keep believing in this crap team. I say summer clear out!! Manager and players. And for all u fans that still believe, your a bigger joke than ‘le proffeseur’

Well, the answer to your question is pretty obvious: he was hoping not to have to use them.

Everyone, including st.alan of shearer is on wengers back just now.Disappointing as the cup exit was these things happen in football.Instead of pulling them up try supporting the team and manager.Shearer today praises Taggart for signing RVP to address last years inadequacies when in actual fact he legged it for the chance of one last big payday having managed to stay fit for more than five minutes just as song nasri adebayor flamini did. This arsenal team could be a very good one with some careful additions and as a coda if people are that concerned about trophies surely they can spend their time supporting barca or madrid orjuventus or whoever

seasons failings when in fact the dutchman legged it for one last big payday just like nasri song and so many others. In football as in
