Why Wenger should offload this man

I don’t know about you guys, but I honestly believe Bacary Sagna’s time at Arsenal has come to an end.

Since his return from his leg break, which he sustained at the end of last season, and his blatant slating of the club last year, the French right-back has been nothing short of sh*t on the field.

His particular performances against Chelsea over the weekend, Manchester City the weekend before that and Southampton at the start of the month, proved to me that he is not up for the fight, nor does he care about the club anymore.

Why Arsene Wenger dropped the in-form Carl Jenkinson for the 29-year-old Frenchman, I will never know.

What’s more humorous about the whole situation is that despite his poor performances for the club, Wenger still picks him ahead of Jenko!

The man once described by Wenger as ‘the best right-back in the Premier League’ and labelled by many Arsenal fans as ‘Mr. Consistent’ is no longer either to be honest.

His positioning, pace, desire and defensive play in general have dropped dramatically from when he first arrived at the club, and he has actually become THE weakest link in the side.

Many of the goals we have conceded in the last few games have come down his side. His lack of concentration and discipline to keep position has cost us dearly. Don’t believe me? Then go back and have a look.

He clearly doesn’t want to play for the club anymore, yet he is still selected by Wenger when he is fit and available.

If Sagna wants to leave then let him go. We have a fine young player in Jenkinson, who actually want to play for The Arsenal, ready to step in.

Has Sagna’s time at Arsenal come to an end?

I think there are bigger problems at Arsenal contributing to Sangna’a lack of form. Firstly he does look fatigued, so could do with a rest. Wh Jenks hasn’t been utilized more often is just strange.

Secondly,I also feel that RVP/Song leaving has seriously (rightly or wrongly)affected Sagna, remember he spoke out about the constant stream of players that leave the club, and we all know what happens to anyone that speak out against the hierarchy.

Thirdl, Make no mistake in Feo’s haste to become a striker, Sagna has been left to cope with the right-hand side of the pitch on his own. I have lost count of the amount of times Walcott has passed to Sagna, then sprinted off up field.

Don’t get me wrong Sagna’s crossing is awful, he rarely get the ball past the first man, but he does some things really well. Overall the whole team look totally unmotivated and quite frankly unprepared to play Professional football.
Now, who’s job is it to motivate the players?

atleast, lets have a rotation,4 Gods sake.wenger is killng jenko the way he kuld hve kild coqueline.wenger shuld atleast rotate players to gve them confidence wherever they are calld upon

  • elboy says:

Not gonna be bias but jenko was doin his job better thn sagna has been n should be playing if sagna is not up to scratch. Maybe he need to feel tht his position is under threat so he can up his game maybe but wenger playing him instead of jenko contradicts tht belief n that is the problem with most our player as ther is hardly any world class players in the squad to emulate or surpass in order to get the best out of everyone. So I think wenger needs to buy more for this reason thn any which he has done but never ones who mount a genuine challenge for there spot on the pitch like a worldclass player dose

  • Why r u pipo wastng talking bwt sagna while u knw the reall problem, the problem z wenger not the players, there is no competition in the squad,do u thnk they can hard knowng that whether perfom well or not they’ll b in the team…wenger have 2 buy now or 4get bwt CPL spot!!!!!

  • Hene Udeh says:

I disagree with u completely, d fact dat Sagna is bhavin dis way is due to d lack of ambition in d club. Sagna is still far beta dan d young nd timid Jekinson. If sagna must leave then we need a new RB while Jekinson should b loaned……pls u all shuld tink abt it

Jenkinson was also shell shocked in the first Swansea game.Thats all Arsenal have-shell shocked misfits.

Instead of Why Wenger Should Offload This Man, I get the feel for why I’ll no longer click on Gunnersphere articles. This is rather ridiculous to put Arsenal’s poor form primarily on one man.
Look at our record and the team’s performances as a whole. There’s PLENTY of blame to go around in every area of the pitch so to put things squarely on Sagna’s shoulders as you’re attempting is ridiculous.
Vermaelen’s been poor at times and the same is true for Koscielny, Gibbs, and Mertesacker. You take the good with the bad and move on. Hell, for all the goals that Theo’s provided we can all agree that he’s missed his fair share as well yet we’re not talking about offloading him as he’s just got a MONSTROUS deal. Again, take the good with the bad. For me, this article is bad but carry on.

I don’t think the writer is pinpointing all the blame on our recent results on Sagna mate, but he has cost us in the last few games.

    • Tony Merakli says:

Do what you want afc_fan. I’m not solely blaming everything on Sagna, but he has been, since he’s come back our weakest link. If you look at the past 4-5 games or so you will see why I don’t think Sagna is up for it anymore.

Some players need to step up, of course they do, but why play one who is either really fatigued or doesn’t care anymore.

  • ivorstephens says:

Sagna,in common with his defensive comrades and conservative politicians of the 1990’s,needs to get back to basics .He knows he can play he just needs to remember to defend first and as form returns, then start venturing forward. As regards criticizing the sale of our best players do i not see this on this forum daily and was he not entitled to voice an opinion.

  • ivorstephens says:

Ps as a coda,i keep reading that our club are fsiling to challenge for the championship nowadays. As regards this season and last thats ok.However in the previous four seasons we chucked the title away to lesser teams three times fabregas rvp nasri and all.And if I remember it was our world class players who bottled it not wenger so he still is producing competitive teams now its time for our highly paid players to stand up and be men for once
