‘Special One’ expects Gunners to miss out on Champions League

Jose Mourinho is no stranger to controversy – as the past proves – and his latest statement will no doubt rub the Arsenal faithful the wrong way.

The Real Madrid boss reckons Tottenham will pip Arsenal to a top four finish this season because Andre Villas-Boas’ side have been more consistent and in better form than Arsene Wenger’s Gunners.

He told The Sun:

‘Tottenham has a fantastic squad, some brilliant players – some of the best in the Premier League.’

He added:

‘And now they have found consistency in their performances.

‘So far this season Arsenal have been up and down – they’re good and not so good.

‘They are not in the top four but they have always finished in the top four so you can say “Why not again this season?’

‘But it will be tough. They will be fighting with Tottenham, Chelsea and Everton so it will be very difficult.’

We currently sit in fifth place in the Premier league, five points behind Spurs, who occupy third position, but have a game in hand over them.

There is still 18 games left to play and although Spurs have been more consistent than us (like Mourinho states) this season, we will be there or thereabouts come May.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the matter and it will be a difficult journey ahead. However, I believe if we can go on a good run of form and results and possibly add to our current squad, we will challenge and hopefully for the club’s sake attain a top four finish.

without significant improvements we will NOT be top 4, I said so before the season started, and nothing I have seen from us apart from 2 x 45 mins of play has indicated I will not be right. Sad fact is Spurs bought exactly the player we needed in Dembele. They have in Lennon and Bale wingers who make Walcot look third rate, and in Defoe a proper striker. I dont allow my dislike of Spurs to delude me into thinking we are anything other than what we are, Ordinary

Mind you…we beat them handsomely. We teach them a lesson…they are fast learner.

They had 10 men and was winning with 11, that result papered over the cracks, we need investment, they are above us in the league, we cant rely on them having a catastrophic fuck up like they did last year, I think AVB is more tactically astute than Redknapp….

We need someone special up top, Villa would be perfect

I’m not going to start”mind the gap”ing it,but looking in from the outside the expectations of the Arsenal fans have fallen through the floor, and long may it continue, hooooraahhh

I don’t see anything in his comments that reflects your headline.

All he is saying is exactly what we all know that Arsenal will struggle for a top four finish.

In speaking with the press I doubt very much he doing so as a way to deflect criticism away from how poorly Real are doing this year.

@silentstan it worth considering that the scum are playing consistent yet are only 5pts ahead and Arsenal have a game in hand. Arsenal are playing shit, will be miles from the title and yet will achieve Wenger’s prized glory of reaching the CL again. No silverware but the bods at the top will be happy – pathetic.

Well, achieving the minimum objective with very little investment is commendable regardless of whether you agree or not. Afterall, Arsenal is not a begger team and not been spoonfed or living on charities.

I really dont know how much mour had to splash at porto but it’s easy to go from roman abrahmovic to massimo moratti and later to galatico-maniac florentino perez. Does anyone think it will be easy to move to a new stadium without any sugar daddy and stay competitive? Let wenger and mour swap places right now and let’s see where they’ll both end up in their leagues respectively? Wenger does not have any excuses for failing to win a throphy but you cant help to think that what if his playerz had been loyal n faithful to him like he’s been with them and the board, things would have been better. A team with Hleb, Flamini, Nasri, Fab, Clichy, Adebawhore, Robin van p£r$i€ will definately be up there with the manchester clubs and the best in europe. Madrid are 16points behind barca while arsenal are 18points behind united with a game in hand…. Just saying?

I would not worry so much dear gooners.
Even if it DID happen you would not be far off the pace and you are, like us still clean and honest(let’s forget 1919) as a club and now that you have discovered “our way” of playing you will never be able to bear that dreadful stuff you played in the 60s to 80s and will continue to play decent football.

Wenger has done a magnificent job with you lot. I doubted his defensive capacity as he used GG’s back four initially and I hoped for a decline when they left but he aced me with the lying traitor (Judas Iscariot’s agent should be crucified as he (JI) only obeyed orders) and created his own defence.

I think that your problem lies with Euro’s talent. Wenger had his hand on the pulse of U21s in Europe and handpicked from them. But it is much more competitive now and soon (say 5 yrs) he should become your DOF and look over the shoulder of a younger man.

Like MU you lot often have no idea just how indebted you are to one man and many of you(and ALL of them) seem to think that their club has a god given right to succeed. No club has and thankfully one money subsidised club has struggled(Liverpool…that is how they dominated the 60-80 period) and hopefully 2 northern money cheats and one London one will also struggle in the future once their oil pipeline is cut.

Don’t worry IMO your cub is honest and in good hands

Id say if Madrid would have it their way they would sack Mourinho for Wenger in a heartbeat. What does that say about Wenger?
