Please make this happen Wenger

Arsene Wenger will have around £35 million-plus to spend on new players this January. This was recently confirmed by our chairman Peter Hill-Wood:

‘If Arsene wants to use that money during the winter window then, absolutely, he will be able to do it. We rely on him to come up with the right people and there will be funds available to him.’

He went on to say:

‘We have been very pleased with the start. But if the manager wants to reinforce the squad in January, he will be able to do that.

‘The financial results were good and we want to put that money to use if Arsene decides he wants more players.’

Undoubtedly great news for us and Wenger, and perhaps this is just a whined up and an attempt to get us all excited by the Sunday tabloid, but they reckon the Frenchman will use the entirety of the hefty sum to lure wanted Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

Chelsea and Paris St Germain are thought to be interested in the Atletico Madrid forward, who is believed to have a £48.5 million buy-out clause in his existing contract. However, this could ostensibly drop due to Spain’s financial crisis.

Interested Premier League clubs will be encouraged to keep an eye on the 26-year-old after he recently revealed his admiration for the English game, and hints he could make a move to England in the future:

‘England? One day, I could go. It is a game I have watched for a long time and one day I would like to sample it. I think I could adapt to England. I think I could score goals.’

Now let’s just say his buy-out clause drops to £30-35 million, the question is: can you actually see Wenger spend this amount of cash on one player? Not if history is anything to go by, that’s for sure. We could easily afford his wages; it’s just the parting of transfer fees that worries me a little.

Do we actually stand a chance in acquiring his services if he was put up for sale? Yes, I think so.

Falcao doesn’t look like a player who is driven by money – his move from Porto to Atletico Madrid, when other big European clubs were chasing him at the time, suggests this. So why not try and lure him to The Emirates.

I would love to see him come in and strengthen out attack. He is a proven striker and firstly a goal-poacher, something we could certainly do with as we look to bag ourselves some silverware this season. And for these reasons I truly hope and encourage Wenger to step up to the plate and go all out for Falcao this January.

Appease the fans and break the trophy duck this season AW.

mate dont be delusional.this is never gonna happen
    walcott will be playing upfront
so striker area is already flooded.

  • G4L says:

This is a non starter and completely unrealistic – get real, we would never and should never contemplate buying a single player for that amount – that kind of spending is irresponsible and unnecessary for Arsenal

The matter of speeding is something that someone to considered right hear, the team Manager Prof know what good for the Club and also know what is good for him himself. He already make comment the other time an i quote that the main problem striking force finisher and he always calling he will do something to make things that the Arsenal Fans will feel at home. therefore am calling on the supporter to give the Man or create some avenue for him let him focus mostly on the team and to enable him carry out or if there is a need for him to look for player during January transfer period.

Probably the best striker in the world at the minute for me but no Wenger wont spend that kinda cash more likley wait until next summer and try grab Llorente on a free next summer or on the cheap earlier

  • Odhiambo says:

Wenger should change his policies and go for a proven 4ward. If he sold rvp for 25m then why not spend similar amount 2 replace him. For how long will we go trophyless? Wenger wake up.

More chance of seeing Ghandi walking down Karachi High Street than this transfer coming off especially for the figures that are being mentioned!!!

Wenger and that idiot gazides need to work on getting Flappianski, Squilliaci, Arshavin, Chamakh, Park, Denilson, Djourou, Bent Foot Bendtner and Ramsey out of AFC. This will not only bring in an amount of money to swell the transfer kitty but it will reduce our wage bill by at least £500,000 pw!!. I cannot understand why he has kept players at the the on huge wages that do not even get on the bench (Chamakh, Park, Squillaci) and others like Arshavin and Djourou that will only ever feature if there is a massive injury crisis (God forbid). This money should then be used to bring in a centre back, a defensive midfield player and another striker, although if Theo is converted into an out and out striker then another wide player/creative midfield player can be brought in instead. The aquisition of Carzola proves that there are quality players out there for reasonable sums of money and as Wenger is always saying that he will only buy quality then it shouldn’t be to hard to replace those mentioned in the above list. AFC are 3-4 players away from being a serious challanger to the 2 mancs and chelski as title contenders. We are not that far away now but Wenger must act in January and again in the summer to build a formidable squad.

George,Arsenal cannot survive on eleven players !!most of the names mentioned are good squad players, Arshavin, Djourou, and Ramsey in particular. The reason the others have not been sold is because their contracts are too good. Nobody else will pay the salaries.Carzola was able to be bought cheaply because his club was skint.Arsene is a genius. Dont ever doubt him, and Mr Gazidis has done a great job. So There !!!

  • Anon says:

Unless we can get him for under 20 million… I would say 20 at a push, but i think he has a year left on his contract and it would be january so no way wenger would pay that much .. 15-16 max maybe some add ons!

Would be great but lets see how things pan out! I think Arsenal have had one of the toughest starts so far, and now we have a, by no means easy, but easier run of games and we got a good result yesterday.

I do think we need a striker like Falco or Llorente though … Just have to be realistic im afraid
