Who’d be in your Arsenal XI to take on Southampton tomorrow afternoon?

So after what seems like an eternity, Arsenal are back in action tomorrow afternoon.

With three games down, no goals conceded, two scored, two draws and a comfortable win in our last Premier League outing against Liverpool at Anfield, our next challenge is to overcome and ultimately bag three points against newly promoted Southampton.

To be fair, despite being the only team in the league not to record a single point on the board so far this season, Southampton have looked good going forward, scoring twice against both Manchester clubs. But they do look very frail at the back, which has ultimately cost them a point or three already.

Needless to say we are in great from and playing well.

Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla are beginning to get to grips with the Premier League (maybe not Olivier Giroud as much), which is assuring to see, especially after losing Robin van Persie and Alex Song.

Arsene Wenger has pretty much kept with the same line-up for the first three games and thankfully it’s paid off for us and him. And I believe, unless an injury occurs, he should keep to the system and line-up that has produced.

So with that in mind and presuming Abou Diaby is out of contention, here’s who I would like to see start for us tomorrow afternoon against The Saints:

Mannone

Jenkinson          Mertesacker          Vermaelen          Gibbs

Arteta          Coquelin

Cazorla

Chamberlain                              Podolski

Giroud

Perhaps Wenger will look to change one or two names in order to give our bench-warmers a game. But personally, I hope he decides to stick with what’s working at the mo and not change a winning formula.

So, who do you guys reckon should start for us tomorrow afternoon against Southampton?

    Giroud

I would change Mertsacker for Kos and Coquelin for Diaby, assuming he is fit enough. I would aim to have both Walcott and Gervinho on at some point before the end too.

    Jenk Kos. Verm. Gibbs
    Arteta
    Ox
    Santi
    Walcott. Giroud. Podolski

    That’s my first choice

good game for koscielny to get a start, and why not rest one or mertesacker or vermaelen.

i hope to see coquelin get the start and show what he is about, with all the talk. I am a big fan, but he needs to prove he can step up and fill the hole left by diaby.

Coquelin and arteta are more defensive players, so playing chamberlain, who can support cazorla in the center would be best. but he’s been pretty busy with the internationals.

i would play, a bit of a gamble

    jenko koscielny vermaelen gibbs
    coquelin ramsey
    gervinho cazorla podolski
    Giroud

Arteta is our rock, but i have faith in Coquelin and Ramsey. I just dont like partnering coquelin with Arteta, with Cazorla not having so much support in the final third.

its best we rotate players through with Arteta anyway when we can.
