Andrey Arshavin has turned down a move to Dinamo Moscow to stay at Arsenal, according to the Russian club’s manager.

The future of the Russian appears somewhat unclear at The Emirates but it does look like Arsene Wenger still sees the 31-year-old in his plans, despite his loan move to former club Zenit St Petersburg.

Arshavin looked likely to head back to Zenit during the summer but nothing transpired. Dinamo were also interested in the Russian international’s services but the diminutive forward decided to stay at Arsenal and fight for a place in Wenger’s set-up.

Dinamo manager and former Chelsea defender Dan Petrescu recently said:

‘Yes, I wanted to add this player to the team.

‘But Andrei said no to Dinamo.’

To be honest, it’s hard to see where Andrey will find game time this season.

So far this season he has made one cameo appearance, was an unused sub against Stoke and was nowhere to be seen against Liverpool – not the greatest of starts by any means.

I can see him playing a handful of games for us this season, these predominantly coming in the minor cup competitions.

But as for fighting for a first-team place, I just don’t see this happening.

Arshavin is great player when he finds form i believe his experience is still needed in our team. Wenger should allow him train special trainings to allow him get back into form.

  • ARSENE HAS LEARNT HIS LESSON - OYEBAMIJI ADETOMIWA TIRIMIZIY says:

Arsene regret sending asharvin on loan in january. When Inter came to the Emirates for the second leg of champions league the, due to injuries to RAMSEY & ARTERTA we have to deploy OX in the midfield alongside SONG and ROSIZCKY, the role he performed very well, we scored three 3 unreplied GOALS. But in the Second Half, the two teams were and tired worn out. AFC needed somebody extra to come in and reenergize the team to find the equalizer. but there’s no extra quality on the bench to do so. Had it been asharvin is available for arsenal. he might provide that extra spark. but he’s already @ zenit. Don’t forget “FORM IS TEMPORAL, CLASS IS PERMANENT.
