Former Gunner Ian Wright would ‘love to see’ Didier Drogba sign for Arsenal.

The 34-year-old Ivory Coast international has recently been linked with a move to The Emirates following boardroom issues at current club Shanghai Shenhua.

Drogba signed for the Chinese outfit after his Chelsea contract expired in the summer, and Wright, who lifted five major trophies with the Gunners during his seven year spell, says the powerful striker would make a great addition to Arsene Wenger’s squad:

Quoted on Goal.com, Wrighty said:

‘I’d love to see Didier Drogba at Arsenal, I’d like to see him come back to England, and not play against Arsenal because he’s always demolishing them and the back four!

‘Of course you’ve got to play that kind of thing down. I think if Drogba’s coming back to the Premier League I’m sure there’ll be a queue and I think if Arsenal are in and around it, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. That’s not a bad signing.’

Wright finished off by saying the experienced forward can still offer Arsenal and the Premier league something:

‘Hopefully Arsene can make that happen, if it can happen, because I think he will be a definite positive move in respect of Arsenal and I think he’s still got something to offer in the Premier League. So fingers crossed that something can come of that.’

Whilst many would love to see Drogba sign for Arsenal, I think those, including Wright, don’t realize how much he actually gets paid in China. Reports suggest the Ivorian picks up £200,000-a-week and his contract does not expire until the winter of 2014.

I for one don’t see this potential transfer happening. Besides, I don’t think we really need him.
