We’ve got no Song

If today’s goalless draw with Sunderland wasn’t bad enough for some for Arsenal fans, then the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona may have just tipped some of them over the edge.

The announcement was posted on the Arsenal website right after the result at The Emirates, with the club agreeing to sell the 24-year-old midfielder to the La Liga club for a reported £15 million.

The Cameroon international will travel to the Catalan club to agree personal terms and undergo a medical ahead of the proposed move. He is expected to completed his move to the Nou Camp on Monday.

Barcelona later confirmed the news, with a club statement reading:

‘Barcelona have agreed a deal with Arsenal for the transfer of Alex Song to the Nou Camp. The fee is €19m (£15m).

‘The Cameroon international midfielder will sign for the next five seasons with a release clause of €80m (£63m).

‘On Monday he’ll have a medical and then join the rest of the squad for the official team presentation at the Joan Gamper Trophy.’

So that’s Robin van Persie and Song out of the exit doors within the space of just two days! Leaving Arsene Wenger and the club now sitting on a £39 million warchest.

Hopefully the Frenchman reinvests the cash in new players and on today’s evidence, recruiting a solid midfielder is a must!

It is high time we arsenal fans start protest about how dis club is going.we d arsenal fans are d 1 dat bears dis pain

    • jemo says:

why protest when we can get other players? Dein would have did what he did with rvp, Clichy, nasri etc. Now mvila, capuoe, we survive. Support the players who want to stay if u are a fun. Song told Kameni he wants barca.

Watching santi cazorla play today made me realise one thing, We need another cazorla type player in our team. Someone with good feet, creative flair and vision to tear defences apart. One is not enough! sorry if im being Greedy.

  • Trouble says:

Does this answer that question that you posted a couple of days ago: Do we still need Nuri Sahin? Hell yes!

  • RecoveringInsomniac says:

It’s quite shameful how no one Arsenal is protesting at the Emirates!! I’m embarrassed. Rooney threatened to quit United, their fans were in protest and burning effigies. But, Arsenal has lost most of its best players within the last 2/3 yrs (6/7 players or more) and NOONE does protest! FFS!!!

this is ‘bye Darren Dein’. Now you can go wait Song’s contract to run down and find him a buyer for 80m. Wenger is clearly annoyed with him. We are still buying-he said.

Wenger should jux get us another DM as quickly as he sold Song…..Lukas Biglia is keen 2 sign
    ..get him!

Jesus, what is wrong with some of you people ?… It’s the first game of the season and some of the so called Arsenal fans have already written us off.. We drew 0-0 with a team that effectively parked their team bus in front of their goal.
Give the new guys a few games to settle in and ‘gel’ before we judge them.. There were plenty of positives from todays game, Cazorla looked like he’d been playing in the EPL for his entire career, and will be a massive player for Arsenal this season. Gervinho looked lively as did Walcott.. Giroud showed some good movement up front when he came on and was unlucky not to win the game for us.. I’ve seen RVP miss better chances than that before.. So give the lads a break for crying out loud, just be thankful you don’t support Spurs or Liverpool (or perhaps some of you do)..

walcott was piss..sell him now. he plays like he doesn’t give a shit anymore. we were much more dangerous when arshavin replaced him

  • paul says:

not a bad start and we looked organised defensively but against a team that showed no means of moving forward. Players do take time to settle and the signs are encouraging. To compete for 4th place the board need to sign a defensive player and a loanee will not cost money nor be wanting to talk to other clubs. I reckon in years to come teams will bid from a list of players for each saturday and those who pay the most win the player for the team. There is no loyalty in football follwing the bosman rule and players needs to earn as much as they can.

    • paul says:

continued. within the short caraeer and the natural thing is to want to earn money. They are different from the supporters who mostly choose opne club and stick to them. Its put me off going to the games now and this combined with cost means i have decided to give up my season ticket.

this team will win nothing this season. 100 percent…and anybody who thinks we will i feel sorry for. we need a top sriker someone with craft pace and power a tevez type player. we need to get wallcott out he is just awful bring in a proper winger who can see a pass, we need a right back jenkinson in not ready for first team, we also need some one who will bully the opostion in the mid field. some one like tiote,

  • Anon says:

Reinvest! Don’t be silly, you act as if you don’t know what the club is about.

We will go for a loan option but that 38 million has already been invested in 3 players… We can now only buy after we sell. Thats the way it is. We can only buy players after we have sold players and what we make from selling players,is what we can spend.
