So I guess we won’t be seeing this Brazilian at Arsenal then?

Well I guess we won’t be seeing Ganso join us anytime soon, after Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro stated the Brazilian will not be leaving the club unless the player’s mammoth buy-out clause is met.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, who is currently with Brazil in the London Olympics, in the past week or so.

However, Santos are unwilling to listen to offers lower than the £40 million mark!

Ribeiro told Globo Esporte, as reported by London 24:

‘Bring the offers, but we won’t accept anything less than his buy-out fee.’

He added:

‘The concrete fact is that he has a contract and a buy-out fee.

‘If he doesn’t cancel his contract, he has to play. And if he doesn’t play well, he’ll be benched.

‘And if he’s benched, he’ll never leave, he’ll have to stay until 2015 [when his contract expires].’

By the sound of it, Ribeiro is nothing more than a businessman and does not want to see Ganso leave unless a hefty offer is tabled.

From what I’ve seen of Ganso, the Brazilian looks a technically gifted footballer, one which can only get better with time.

However, Ribeiro must be off his nut if he thinks he will be receiving a £40 million offer for the creative midfielder by any club this summer.

If the Santos president is serious about this then I think it’s safe to say that Arsenal’s ‘interest’ in Ganso will surely disappear into thin air in the upcoming weeks.
