What a summer we have had so far, as usual never short of drama and controversy.
We know the transfer of Robin van Persie seemed to have had an impact on Arsene Wenger – I can’t tell you if its a good or bad one, but it certainly did have an impact on the Frenchman.
Though Stewart Robson has reason to believe Wenger is secretly pleased to get rid of the 29-year-old striker, who completed a £24million deal to Manchester United last Friday. I mean I would be too. £24m for a 29-year-old with one-year left on his contract – what a great piece of business done by Arsenal FC.
Robson claims Wenger won’t be too disappointed with the sale of last season’s PFA Player of the Year, citing the Dutchman had become too big for Wenger to handle:
‘Arsenal fans must know that their best players keep being sold, that’s how it is at the moment at the football club.
‘It’s not about money.
‘Arsene Wenger doesn’t like players who run the rule over him.
‘He’s a dictator and he’ll be pleased to get rid of Robin van Persie.
‘A lot of Arsenal supporters get upset with the board but it’s Arsene Wenger who runs the football club.’
He finished off by saying:
‘Arsene Wenger runs the board.’
And after Robin’s departure many now believe the club could struggle this season.
But the likes of Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla can secure a Champions League place for Arsenal, according to the former Gunner:
‘They’ll be in the top four but they won’t win that much this season.’
After Van Persie’s antics this summer I was glad to see him leave. Absolutely delighted in fact. I always wanted him to leave from the moment he posted his statement. But his destination has really left a sour taste in most of the fans’ mouths.
Though I do agree with Robson to some extent, Wenger may in fact be secretly delighted with the Dutchman’s sale.
He did start to make it seem like his needs outweighed those of the club.
Though on the whole, ‘Wenger controls the board’, I’m not too sure about this Robson. The board control the funds, then again, Wenger has a huge hand in decision-making based on transfers and who he wants the club to go for.
Overall, I think most Arsenal fans are angry with Van Persie’s decision to join one of our biggest rivals, as I assume most of us would’ve liked him to join Juventus for less.

So, “He’s [Wenger] a dictator”? Did the sun rise this morning? Find me a football manager who is not a dictator, and you will see an unsuccessful person who is out of work.

Robson is an first class a$$hole. He hates Arsenal. And I mean Hate. He is so unprofessional when he commentates it is unbelievable. Don’t lsiten to anything he says.
If arsene wenger just brought in a top class striker to help upfront with giroud, because we cant excpect huge amounts from a player in hes first season at the club who has not played in the premier league. and maybe sahin and a good defender who can play anywhere along the back for asrenal will defo win some honours. but arsene will not do it, so yes it looks like our season will end with no trophys. o well

I dont know what is wrong with this Dutch players, most of them have attitude problems. That is why no matter how good they are, they wont win anything.
Somethings wrong at the club, we all realise that. The truth hurts sometimes. Wenger is a fallible dictator, while Fergie has learnt to delegate, even the Special One has a army of backroom staff.
