Should Arsenal snap up this man on a free?

Newcastle have reportedly entered the race to sign Salomon Kalou, who became a free agent recently after leaving Chelsea a few weeks ago.

Arsenal have in the past been linked with a move for the Ivory Coast international, with many Gooners split on the player’s ability.

But after being released by Chelsea, should Arsene Wenger snap up his long-term target on a free this summer?

Well in my opinion, Arsenal could do a lot worse than acquiring Kalou, as Wenger looks to offload Marouane Chamakh during the summer following a disappointing season for the Moroccan.

Kalou is only 26 and has netted 60 goals for Chelsea in his six seasons stay, falling down the pecking order on a regular basis.

In my opinion Kalou could end up being, potentially, a good buy for Arsenal as I think given a run of games he could offer the likes of Theo Walcott competition.

The only stumbling block that Arsenal could face is matching his wage demands of around £70,000 a week.

It is also thought that Kalou would prefer to stay in the Premier League as his family are settled, which great news for Arsenal if they renew their interest in the Ivorian.

Personally, I think we are going to be continuously named with forwards this summer because of the situation we face with Robin van Persie, and it is very difficult to tell which way the coin will land on.

However, Arsenal should look at bringing in Kalou regardless of what happens with RVP, but only if we offload deadwood during the summer, as we know our club are looking to decrease their wage bill.

Should Arsenal bring in Kalou this summer?

Reply yes if u want him to come, reply no if u dont want him to come. See how many Yes or No’s we get, can we get 20 altogether.

  • ron says:

    no ! absolutley not.
why pay someone 70 grand a week to sit on the bench.. i could do that for half the price.

no no no. better to pay for top quality and back up with young’uns

  • James says:

No. Don’t need anymore deadwood in the squad, we have enough of that already that we’ll struggle to get rid of. He’s not an improvement on Gervinho, and we have enough options out wide, so what would be the point?

If Van Persie leaves, we’d need a top striker to replace him such as Benzema or Falcao, Giroud as the minimum.

  • AKA Jack Gooner RVP says:

I agree with @James and @Ron, we dont need to pay him 70,000 to sit on the bench and as he said we have got enough deadwood in the squad

I see kaloi as only a replcement for park or vela. in my opinion campbell and afobe could replace the pair. what we need is suarez lewandowski and giroud to replace arshavin bendtner and chamakh.

Personally I would say YES IN MY OWN opinion, this guy is proven in the premier league. An average on 10goals in every season he played for Chelsea because he has spent 6seasons, more so, coming from the bench, he’s better than Gervinho, Chamakh and he might give Walcott run for his money and would be a good team player…

  • gnr says:

No we should not sign him, Kalou is not of the quality we need for next season, although if he went to either everton, fulham or even sunderland he could become a big player for the club.

  • gnr says:

Would also through in a few players that need to see the exit door…
    Chamakh
    Bendthner
chu-young(feel bad he didn’t get a chance really)
    Arshavin

    And their replacements;

Doumbia – Striker left/right foot, fast and strong and 38 goals last season.
E.Elia – R/L wing – Fast, skillfull and can pick a pass – right foot

And we need a decent left back to allow Gibbs to develop his game.

  • tinubu temidayo says:

he’ll be a very good buy!
