Here are 10 things you should know about Arsenal target Nick Powell:

1. Born on the 23rd of March 1994, Powell is an attacking midfielder who plays for Crewe Alexandra and is a England Under-18 international.

2. Powell has been with Crewe since the age of five and made his debut for the club aged 16 in a League Two game against Cheltenham town.

3. The 18-year-old scored his first senior goal in a 3-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon on the 15th of October 2011.

4. The offensive midfielder was later awarded the Football League’s Young player of the Month award for December that same year.

5. He managed to score his first brace for Crewe on the 10th of March 2012 against Gillingham – a game which the Cheshire-based club won 4-3.

6. Powell managed to bag every award at Crewe’s end of season awards ceremony, becoming the first player in the club’s history to win all five, including Goal of the Season and Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year.

7. Last season Powell gained promotion with Crewe, scoring the opener in a 2-0 win against Cheltenham in the 2012 League Two play-off Final at Wembley Stadium on May the 27th.

8. Powell made 45 appearances for Crewe last season, netting 16 goals, thus becoming the club’s top scorer last season.

9. Due to his impressive performances and goals for Crewe last season, the youngster has attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and, recently, Arsenal.

10. Crewe Alexandra chairman John Bowler announced a few days ago that any prospective deal for Powell this summer must be right for both club and player: ‘We have to gauge what’s right for us in terms of value but also what is right for the player. That will be a conversation between us and his family and with Nick. And we’ll do all in our power not to let him go to a club unless it’s one that can take him on and make the most of his career. Dario Gradi is adamant about that.’ So it seems Powell will ultimately have to decide whether he wants to flourish at Arsenal, United or Chelsea.
