Juve can land RVP, says Agnew

Italy-based journalist Danny Agnew believes Juventus have the financial backing to land Robin van Persie, should they make a move for him this summer.

The 28-year-old Dutch striker has only a year left to run on his existing deal at The Emirates, with reports suggesting talks over an improved contract, which took place on Wednesday, will not take place in the immediate future. This will undoubtedly spark more fear and worry into the Arsenal camp and subsequently give the clubs interested in the Dutch international (Manchester City, Juventus, Real Madrid etc) hope of signing the Gunners captain.

And having won the Serie A title this season, Juve will be able to compete with others for Van Persie’s signature, according to Agnew.

He recently told talkSPORT’s ‘Hawksbee and Jacobs Show’:

‘I think Juventus, having won the title, might just ease the purse strings a bit, and they might be able to come up with an offer that somebody like Van Persie would consider.’

Its still early days but if recent reports are to be believed then Van Persie could well be on his way, and Juventus, in my opinion, isn’t a bad shout.

No chance. They might get Cavani, but have no hope signing Van Persie.

  • Thank you very much Agnew for your views, but, I’m afraid, you got this terribly wrong. Van Persie’s issue isn’t all about money, if that were the case, no team can beat City. Besides, Juve are no longer with the appeal they had before their scandals despite their triumph this season. They have no chance whatsoever. I can bet whoever disagrees with me, Van Persie WILL sign a new contract this summer.

I agree van persie probly will sign a new contract but not because juve aint got their appeal anymore. arsenal will never have the appeal of juventus they are a second rate selling club and always will be. arsenal really wanted melo when juve got him but who did he xhoose? If Van persie stays he will stay because he loves arsenal thats all

I agree with you Juvelee that if VP signs it will only be out of love for the club. But as a Gooner at the moment I’m quite doubtful he will resign. If he leaves it will be a massive blow but Arsenal will be fine. Podolski can be as good if not better he is more powerful & quicker, he is less injury prone & if Arsenal are only left with the decision to sell then it’s what’s best for our club. As we have learnt from recent transfer sagas it’s better for us to act quickly & not rely on hoping. £25 mil for Robin is good money in fact it’s great money. Podolski is only 26. Gunners should not fear the exit of Van Persie.
