Would the potential signing of this Ajax starlet rid us of our creative problems?

|

His subsequent move to Ajax in 2008 was followed up by a promotion to the senior squad in January 2010.

The 5’8’’ playmaker soon bagged another award by becoming the Danish Talent of the Year, this soon followed with the award of Ajax’s Talent of the Year under the watch of Dutch legend Johann Cruyff.

In no time, this rising star was named Dutch Football Talent of the Year and made his international debut in 2010 as well. His displays for Ajax were noted by the national team coach, and as such, was part of the Denmark World Cup squad which travelled to South Africa. He was the youngest player to feature in the tournament.

Eriksen added another feather to his cap by becoming the youngest Danish player to score in a European qualifying match, and the Ajax no. 8 has been courted by several European clubs ever since.

Having been on Wenger’s radar for the past two years or so, this Danish export fits the bill of Wenger’s type of acquisitions, as he is just 20 years of age.

Eriksen is technically gifted, has the beating of opposition defenders, has superb passing and crossing accuracy and has creativity in abundance. His probable addition to the Arsenal team will certainly add creativity to the fluidity of Rosicky and Mikel Arteta, as well as the steel of Jack Wilshere and Alex Song. Of course the likes of Theo Walcott and Robin will fare better with a player of his quality behind them.

Wenger’s policy of handing young talent opportunities will be a major advantage in the race to securing the services of this Danish maestro, as he is a player seeking to develop his game and there is no place better in the world to do just that than Arsenal FC.

Since Europe’s top clubs are all vying for his signature, Arsenal should move for their man in a similar style to that of the reported transfer of Lukas Podolski, before the off-season scramble for signature begins.

With his ability to give a final pass and create, Arsenal might just be buying a Cesc Fabregas replica that will not only be a healthy competition for Rosicky, but also a capable replacement for the aging Czech midfielder as well. Moreover, his addition will not only increase the creating aspects of the team, but Arsenal can do with more bodies, as the squad is consistently decimated by injuries every season.

I truly believe that this potential move would be a win-win situation for both the player and the club. Eriksen is solely interested in developing his game and Arsenal could do with a player of his calibre in their starting line-up.
