Why we should’ve loaned out Chamakh instead of Bendtner

Rather than dillydallying about, I think I’m going to dive right into this one.

Apart from Robin van Persie, who has been outstanding for us this season, we have Marouane Chamakh, Park Chu-Young, Carlos Vela and Nicklas Bendtner, all looked at as our back-up strikers to the 28-year-old Dutchman.

Park, who signed for the Gunners from Monaco last summer, has seen very little action this year. The same can also be said for Chamakh, who hasn’t been able to get games since the return of RVP in January 2011 and has severely dropped in form since. Carlos Vela was loaned out again, this time to Real Sociedad, while Bendtner also sealed a season-long loan to Sunderland following a number of disappointing displays for the Gunners in the past.

Taking this into account, should Wenger have opted to loan out Chamakh instead of Bendtner?

Well if we look at the stats, and the stats alone, it seems Arsene made the wrong call.

The Moroccan striker has netted just the one Premier League goal for us this season in nine appearances. On the other hand, the over-confident and brash Dane has scored seven league goals and created five in 23 appearances for Martin O’Neill’s side.

Now obviously Wenger wasn’t to know what would’ve transpired this season, but he should’ve known that Nicky poses more of a threat to opposing defenders than Marouane, and is a BETTER striker in general than the former Bordeaux forward.

I, like many, don’t rate Bendtner; in fact I want to see him leave this summer. But surely, with his Premier League experience, movement and overall play, it would have benefited us a bit more had Chamakh gone out on loan, thus leaving the Dane at the club to support RVP.

Of course Bendtner wants to play regular first-team football and this was the main reason for his season-long loan to Sunderland last summer, but who would you rather see come on to help or replace RVP upfront, Chamakh or Bendtner? Definitely has to be the latter for me.

As we all know, both players’ futures at Arsenal remain in doubt and both will probably leave the club during the summer.

However, Martin O’Neill, who remains uncertain about making a permanent move for Bendtner, believes his on-loan forward could still play a role for Wenger’s side next season:

‘I’ve not thought about his future at all.

‘I’ve not mentioned it to him, there’s no point in putting pressure on anyone at the moment.

‘He’s played very well and may think that with that type of performance he’s still capable of breaking into Arsenal’s squad.’

Somehow I don’t think so Martin, especially with Lukas Podolski on his way!

What I’m trying to get at here is had Bendtner stayed instead of Chamakh, then perhaps we would’ve bagged a few more points in games we lost or drew this season.

Dont understand people like you, if you don’t like the site or its articles why do you bother clicking on the link, read the article then post a pointless comment? what a knobhead.

Agree with writer, although I think Bendtner’s loan move has shown how average he really is.

    Sad Post.
As if you don’t know what a pain Bendtner is.
It is best if he is not around the team at all.
Apart from crying for the first team place he also would have encouraged other players of not getting play time.

Chamakh needs mental strength not loaning out. HE CAME TO US BLAZING AND SCORING GOALS only to lose it the moment competition emerged. While Bendtner needs humility, he thinks he’s better than he really is!!!!the loan has shown up Nico

Bendtner is better but he have a big mouth. Wenger only should to close Bendtner’s morth and playing him as substitude when we are ahead. We need his head bcoz he is tall and can use as the wall and he can score goals by that. He just use his head not his mouth so we will be okey.

    both of them are crap

Why not discuss whether it’s best to lose a £10 note or two fivers? Or have have your right testicle removed as opposed to your left one?

I wholeheartedly disagree with Joe! I’ve only been writing for the website for a week or so and I love it! Its great to hear what other people think about certain topics, it gives you fresh idea’s 🙂 and on topic, I think Bendtner gives us more of a goal threat than Chamakh, but overall his attitude outweighs his talent, and it could have a detrimental effect on our team

i think chamack was a goid player wen he came too us but wen rvp returned from injury scoring goals for fun chamsck never had a chance of being first choice and lost confidence like torres has so i think if we losned chamsck out for a 6 mnth period it could build his confidence and i think he posses a great aerial threat it a shame he could of been a good player and as for bendtner well hes a tosser
