Arsenal managed t bag all three points against Liverpool at Anfield earlier this afternoon, thanks to a sublime stoppage time winner from Robin van Persie.

Liverpool started off brightly, attaining much of the possession and out-passing the Gunners.

But in the 17th minute, Kenny Daglish’s side were awarded a rather dubious penalty after Wojciech Szczesny supposedly brought down Luis Suarez in the area. However, Dirk Kuyt failed to convert the spot kick and rebound after Szczesny pulled off two stunning saves. Despite the misses, Liverpool continued to pile on the pressure and just seven minutes after the penalty they were ahead. A low cross from Jordan Henderson from the right wing was not dealt with by Laurent Koscielny, who sliced his attempted clearance from about five-yards into his own net.

Despite being pinned back and unable to control the game, Arsenal managed to equalize before the half-time interval through Van Persie. Bacary Sagna delivered a pinpoint cross into the six-yard box which the in-form Dutchman headed in.

Liverpool had the majority of the chances and should’ve really put the game beyond Arsene Wenger’s side. However, in the dying minutes of the game, Van Persie stunned Anfield and netted his 30th goal of the season after superbly volleying in Alex Song’s pinpoint chip pass by Pepe Reina from close range.

It was truly a smash and grab win by the Gunners which keeps them in fourth place, four points behind third place Spurs, who play Manchester United tomorrow afternoon.

So what FIVE things did we learn from the Gunners today?

1.Liverpool can’t score from penalty spot in Premier League without Gerrard.

2.Sczeszny is not only excellent goalkeeper, he is also better centre-half than Koscielny.

3.Robin Van Persie is to this Arsenal team what Dirk Nowitzky is to German basketball team – he might not be one-man-team but he is one-man-attacking-department-of-the-team.

4.It seems Thierry Henry’s short spell in Arsenal had some influence on mental strength of Arsenal players – this was fourth victory in EPL in a row and third in which Arsenal managed to win despite being goal(s) down (Sunderland, Tottenham, Liverpool).

5.Israelian science is the best in the world – they invented “invisible footballer” 32 years ago!
