Well now I’ve heard it all.
According to reports Italy, Arsenal are planning a shock move for Juventus veteran Alessandro Del Piero!!!
In January we saw our very own Thierry Henry return to the club and the 34-year-old Frenchman made some impact in his short stay, scoring three important goals in four appearances.
Now daily Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim Arsene Wenger is looking to secure the 37-year-old Italian, who is out of contract in the summer, on a short-term deal, and hopes that Del Piero’s inclusion could have the same type of impact on his youthful squad as Arsenal legend Henry did.
Clearly this is a joke and an attempt by the Italian media to make our club look desperate and cheap.
Don’t get me wrong, Del Boy is a technically gifted footballer and bags a lot of experience, but why would our club aim to sign him when there are more agile, technical and youthful strikers out there?
Even though we could potentially snap him up on a free, I just don’t think it’s the right way to go. 9-10 years ago yes, but not now, not at 37!
I hope this rumour stays a rumour and doesn’t materialize into anything serious.

The only reason this rumour has been fabricated is the fact that his contract runs out in the summer. It’s one of the things Anti-Arsenal a*seholes come up with when they want to have a laugh at Wenger and his team. Well, the sad fact is these guys can’t even get their story right. I heard a justification that Del Piero was supposed to feature as a forward. When did he become one? Unless it’s just a pun on Wenger playing people out of position… Yeah, pun upon pun. To quote Joe Strummer: “everybody says: it’s not funny.”
I was actually curious who would be the first to relay this crap… I don’t think that’s the way to go, man…
