Do we really need another left-back coming in this summer?

Aymen Abdennour. Other than his playing position at left-back and his age, his name is all I know about him.

Rumours have surfaced that Arsene Wenger has been keeping an eye on the Tunisian international for about six months, and reports suggest the 22-year-old may be heading to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal scouts apparently watched Toulouse play on Sunday, a game in which Abdennour inspired a 1-0 win at Rennes.

He’s young and for our gaffer to show interest in him, surely he must be a talented footballer.

But do we really need him? I don’t think so.

We have enough cover as it is already, with many injured players set to return. It would be unfair to sign a player like him in hope that he will play when one of the first-team choices and subs sustain injuries. Other than small cup games, I don’t see him getting into the thick of things, should we sign him.

I don’t see us having as many injuries next season as we did this one. I see the Tunisian as someone who may end up as 3rd or 4th choice at left-back, as he tries to settle and finally push for a starting role.

A no-go for me this summer.

Should we attempt to sign the Tunisian this summer?

Can we guarantee that Kieran Gibbs can no longer only play 10 games a year? We know nothing of Gibbs’ ability to stay fit and now Santos seems to be on and off. Granted having 3 LBs might be a headache but at the same time we could very well be in a position where we have 4 CBs playing across the backline again. Kos showed that he’s somewhat good enought o fill in at RB if need be but we have no one that can fill in at LB. TV5 is shit terrible at it, if you think otherwise you’re delusional – he’s a monster CB. Yeah he played LB at Ajax but they weren’t winning jack all back then either and it wasn’t until he moved into the CB that Ajax began becoming a better team.

How do you not see Arsenal having as many injuries next year? How do you even predict that? Arsenal have many injuries every year and are usually one of the top clubs in terms of number of injuries throughout a season. Gunners need all the depth they can get.

That depends on the boss,if he thinks gibbs can handle the physicality of EPL for long & not get injured, then no need, also we got santos, what we need is actually jan vertonghen 2 play across our defence & DM

Aymen Abdennour can play in the back four or in front protecting back four. He is a strong assured, confident player. He will fit well in our team and he is not error prone like ticking timebomb Dhuriu and he is not an accident waiting to happen like Gibbs who I suspect is also made of glass.
