Arsenal target Juve star, and it’s not Del Piero!

So we’ve been linked with a shock move for Juventus veteran Alessandro Del Piero this summer. We’ve also heard that our club is close to signing Lukas Podolski, and are eyeing up the trio of Mario Gotze, Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud. Not to mention several other young stars out there that will apparently arrive at The Emirates at the end of the season.

Well the latest to be added to that long, long list is Italian midfielder Claudio Marchisio, who, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com, is being targeted by Arsene Wenger, despite the 26-year-old signing a new improved five-deal with the Turin club in May 2011.

In my opinion this would be a sensible move for Arsene to pursue, especially with Abou Diaby always injured, Denilson surely set to leave the club and Aaron Ramsey not quite there yet.

Going for Marchisio, who is know for his tough-tackling, versatility, reading of the game and long range efforts, would also show Robin van Persie, as well as our rivals, that we mean business ahead of the new season.

However, having recently signed a new deal with his boyhood club, acquiring Marchisio may require a hell of a lot of effort to lure him to The Emirates this summer, but it would certainly be worth it in my book.

This is most likely nothing more than another transfer rumour, one that will probably not materialize into anything. But should Juve decide to sell then Manchester United may also look to make a move for the 5’10’’ Italian international.

Marchisio has bagged seven goals and three assists in 27 Serie A games so far this season.
