‘There is no direct contact with any English clubs, but our position is to listen to anyone who might be interested in him and then decide what is best.

‘I think it would be very difficult to see him playing in Italy and wearing a shirt other than that of Juventus.’

This is what Alessandro Del Piero’s brother and agent, Stefano, recently told Tutto Juve, as the Italian star admitted that he’s willing to listen to all offers that come in for him this summer, preferably ones made from teams abroad.

Out of all 20 Premier League clubs, only Arsenal and QPR have been linked with the 37-year-old forward, who is expected to be shown the door this summer after nearly 19 years of service at Juventus.

Earlier in the month Tuttosport claimed Arsene Wenger was looking into the option of bringing in Del Piero on a short-term deal – like he did with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry at the turn of the year – hoping the former Italy international’s inclusion could spark the same type of impact that the French striker had back in January.

So if indeed Arsenal are interested in the ex-Padova striker, then the Gunners will undoubtedly have to act fast as I’m of the opinion that there will be a horde of clubs expressing their interest in Del Boy’s services come summertime.

For Heaven’s sake, what on earth do we want with a 37-year old at the Emirates….apart from being on the coaching staff. The whole policy of the Club is centred around youth and the speed of the game. Who needs an aging star on his final lucrative contract before retirement? 😳
