Why Robson’s advise on Wilshere should be heeded by Wenger

Former Gunner Stewart Robson believes Arsenal badly miss the services of Jack Wilshere, but has advised the club not to rush him back to fitness – funnily enough I was just telling my old man the same thing!

The 19-year-old was on course to make his return after nursing an ankle injury which he picked up during pre-season, but recently suffered a stress fracture in his heel which could keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Having heard the news, Robson has pleaded with Arsene Wenger to give the England international as much time as he needs to return to full fitness.

Robson told talkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs Show:

‘He is badly missed by Arsenal.

‘I think he is one of the best talents England have produced since Paul Gascoigne. He is an exceptional player for someone so young.

‘He dominates games. He will touch the ball more than any other player on the field. He has got some tenacity about him, he will go and put his foot in, sometimes at the wrong time, but he will learn that.

‘He is going to be a quality player but they must not rush him. His career is more important than the next few weeks.’

I certainly cannot argue with Robson’s comments – Wilshere has been sorely missed in our midfield.

Jack is definitely considered by all the Arsenal fans as an important first-team player, one that can create something out of nothing and change a game in an instant. We have suffered a lot this season without him in our midfield, and I can’t help but wonder, would we be in the position we are currently in if he was fit and playing? Somehow I think not.

I truly hope the medical team can get Jack back to full fitness ASAP, but, like Robson said, he shouldn’t be rushed and risked if he’s not ready.

Let’s hope the tenacious midfielder is not out for the full season and gets some games under his belt before the 13th of May.

Speedy recover Jack boy!

Stewart Robson should also tell England not to place too much national burden on a 19 year old.

I am sure Wenger will take note of Robson’s advise, he is very knowledgeable and a top football expert. After all he was the 1st team coach at Southend United and technical director at Rushden and Diamonds.

LOL! well put Mick, but Robson is right. We have missed Wilshere and he needs to get back to full fitness before getting on the green again

I know he is right, it just makes me smile when some of these so called expert pundits come out with blindingly obvious opinions and statements as if Wenger maybe wouldn’t think of it. Does he really think that Wenger and his team are lost without his advice. It is so patronising.

To be honest I suspect Jack’s injury was faked, I think he indulged in recreational drugs & got caught… Now AFC has to deal with the fall out in this manner..
